Apple Just Discontinued These 7 Products

As expected, Apple revealed the brand new iPhone 16 lineup during its Glowtime event earlier this month, but it wasn’t just about the iPhone; Apple also revealed a few other new products.
In addition to the new iPhone, we have two new AirPods models, a (kind of) new AirPods Max and a sleek new Apple Watch.
While having all these new products is fantastic, it also means that some older products are being discontinued.
What do we mean by discontinued? In Apple’s terms, it means that the company has officially stopped manufacturing and selling these products. Instead, you can only find the current, most up-to-date devices on Apple’s websites.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that these products have disappeared completely. Apple will continue to support them for years to come, and you can still find them sold in other stores brand new — at least while stock lasts.
However, it does mean that their time to shine is officially finished. Eight products have been officially discontinued this year. Apple has already said goodbye to them, and we should, too. Here’s the list.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
Just one year ago, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were Apple’s best iPhones.
While the iPhone 15 lineup didn’t bring many new things to the table, the iPhone 15 Pro models marked the beginning of the end for the ring/silent switch that we all knew and loved.
Both iPhone 15 Pro models also featured better cameras, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max also featured a 5x optical zoom.
Now, you won’t find any of these products in Apple’s main store, but you can still buy the regular iPhone 15.
That said, if you’re looking to upgrade your old iPhone, you can probably find an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max at a lower price, which might be a way better deal than getting the iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max.
iPhone 13
Apple typically sells the past two years of at least some of its older standard iPhone models. When the iPhone 15 lineup was announced, the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and the iPhone 13 available to purchase on its website.
Unfortunately, with the announcement of the iPhone 16, the iPhone 13 had to finally say goodbye.
Officially, you can’t get the iPhone 13 from Apple’s website. Instead, you can only purchase the iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus.
OF course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. While the iPhone 13 was a great smartphone, you’re better off getting the iPhone 14 or iPhone 15 if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly alternative that will still support a few more software updates that come in the future.
AirPods 2 and AirPods 3
The second and third generation AirPods, some of Apple’s most popular products, are finally gone from Apple’s website. The company had kept both AirPods models, even if the second-generation AirPods were already almost five years old.
Now, Apple is focusing on the new AirPods 4, which comes in two different models: the base model with a new H2 chip and a sleeker design and another model that looks exactly the same but comes with Active Noise Cancellation.
Still, we’ll never forget about the second generation AirPods, which helped shape the way Bluetooth earbuds look and feel.
Of course, now, if you want to get a new pair of AirPods, you should look at the AirPods 4, as they bring many new useful features that make them a must-have.
Apple Watch Series 9
The Apple Watch Series 9 was released last year alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Unfortunately for Apple Watch lovers, the Series 9 wasn’t that big of an upgrade compared to the Series 8.
With that said, it brought a new feature to the table: Double Tap. This feature lets you control many aspects of your Apple Watch with just one hand.
Even though the Apple Watch Series 9 is now gone, this feature will continue to live on future Apple Watch models, including the Apple Watch Series 10.
Now, the Series 10 offers the largest display yet on any regular Apple Watch, as well as a more powerful processor.
With that said, for more casual users, the Apple Watch Series 9 is more than enough. And if you can get it at a discount, it might be a much better deal than the Series 10.
AirPods Max (With Lightning Port)
In addition to the new AirPods 4, Apple also revealed what’s probably the most disappointing upgrade in years: the “new” AirPods Max.
In reality, this year’s AirPods Max only has a couple of new things: some new colors and a new charging port. Apple finally ditched Lightning and decided to embrace USB-C on its most expensive AirPods.
With these small changes, Apple also discontinued the older AirPods Max. Of course, the new AirPods Max are the ones to get, especially if all your other products already use USB-C instead of Lightning, but if you don’t mind the older port, you’ll probably be able to find the old AirPods Max at a much better price.
Gone But Not Forgotten
Remember: Just because these products aren’t available on Apple’s website doesn’t mean you can’t still get them.
The truth is that many of these devices offer a lot of great value, especially for a lower price. If you can get any of them, or still have them, you probably don’t need to worry about an upgrade.
Just because Apple discontinued them doesn’t mean the company won’t continue to support them for the next few years.
