Up until now, we had a picture of what the iPhone 12 lineup would look like. iPhone 12 models would come in 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and supersized 6.7-inch form factors, and would be larger phones with smaller notches with a physical design that is reminiscent of the iPad Pro.

But, according to Filip Koroy of YouTube channel EverythingApplePro, everything we thought we knew about the size of the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 is wrong.

According to EverythingApplePro, previous rumors about the size of the 5.4-inch model were utterly incorrect. Apparently, estimates of its size were way too large, and the new iPhone 12 actually is going to be mind-blowingly small.

Koroy claims the upcoming iPhone 12 will be smaller than the iPhone SE 2nd generation, even though it’ll have a bigger display. Its overall size likely will be very close to the original iPhone SE, which was released in 2016.

“I want to say, we were completely wrong on the sizing of the 5.4-inch.” “Ours was way too big. Actually taking a look at the sizing in reference to the other iPhone sizes, this thing is small. Imagine that design [above], full display. This is going to be a ridiculously popular device.”

Filip Koroy

Koroy didn’t pull these dimensions out of thin air. They were leaked earlier this year by Macotakara. The report was largely dismissed when it was published, but now Koroy believes it to be accurate. The dimensions are as follows:

  1. 5.4-inch iPhone 12: 131 x 64 mm (5.15 x 2.51-inches)
  2. 4-inch iPhone SE: 123 x 58 mm (4.84 x 2.28-inches)
  3. 4.7-inch iPhone SE 2020: 138 x 67 mm (5.43 x 2.65-inches)

Apple may achieve this incredibly small form factor by going bezel-less and allowing the screen to encompass the entire front face of the device. Apple likely will change the aspect ratio to 19.5:9, which makes it possible for a 5.4-inch display to fit inside such a narrow casing.

You may be considering the iPhone SE 2nd generation because of its size and price tag, but you may want to hold off on buying one right away.

The tiny 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will give the iPhone SE 2020 a run for its money. The 5.4-inch device is rumored to ship with an OLED display, a smaller notch, an A14 processor, 5G connectivity, and a reasonable $649 starting price tag.

Yes, it may be more expensive than the $399 iPhone SE 2nd generation, but you get a whole lot more phone for only a bit more money.

On the downside, the 5.4-inch version may only include two camera lenses – a standard lens and an ultra-wide lens. It likely will ship without a telephoto lens or LiDAR sensor, both of which may land on the high-end “Pro” versions of the iPhone 12.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 12 this fall, though the 6.7-inch version may debut slightly later in October.
