As we draw closer to Apple’s fall 2018 special media event, we’ve been witnessing an increasing number of leaked images and details about some of the company’s unannounced but highly-anticipated product offerings.

By now, those who’ve been following along with us know that Apple is planning to release three new iPhone models at a special event rumored for Wednesday, September 12, including two equipped with Super Retina OLED displays measuring 5.8- and 6.5-inches in addition to an all-new 6.1-inch iPhone variant boasting an impressive Full Active LCD display panel.

All three models will feature iPhone X-inspired designs complete with edge-to-edge displays, no hardware Home buttons, and True Depth cameras for Face ID, Animoji and more. Apple is also slated to discontinue the current iPhone X this fall, replacing it with its similar-sized successor.

This much has been all but confirmed thanks to a number of unexpected leaks we’ve covered as of recently, including these leaked images (and a video) allegedly showing complete but non-functional dummy units of Apple’s entire family of upcoming iPhone models, revealing a design and form-factor consistent with what we’ve been hearing from analysts and the rumor mill for a while now.

Latest LCD iPhone Leak

Courtesy of the ever-reliable Slash Leaks, we now might be looking at a semi-clear image of Apple’s actual 6.1-inch LCD iPhone in its fully-functional capacity. Uploaded over the weekend by a user identified only as Mikelagore, the image appears to show the upper-half of the back-side of Apple’s upcoming 6.1-inch iPhone handset amid the backdrop of what the leaker suggests may be the ceiling of a Foxconn iPhone assembly factory.

Of course, while the photo is somewhat blurry and its authenticity cannot be confirmed, we can see several hallmark indicators — including that super-enlarged single-lens camera with dual-LED flash, Apple’s signature logo, and other aesthetic design clues — suggesting that what we’re looking at is the real deal.

Given how close we are to witnessing Apple unveil its new iPhone models on stage, it’s not unreasonable to assume that despite the company’s ongoing efforts to crack down on these “harmful product leaks,” a rogue Foxconn employee simply managed to get his hands on and snap a photo of the handset while working on the assembly line before posting it to the web. This certainly wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen that happen, after all..

A Trio of New iPhones

Considering the breadth and scope of this year’s iPhone leaks, there’s not much we don’t know about the upcoming handsets at this point. While Apple may have a few surprises in store for us as it usually does, we even know these new models might retail at a lower price point when they hit store shelves.

We still have about five-weeks to go until Apple’s iPhone and fall products announcement, but the good news is it shouldn’t be long after, that customers will be able to get their hands on the company’s new OLED models — including the so-called iPhone X Plus — which should arrive in stores about two-weeks later.

The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, is rumored to be facing manufacturing delays which may push its launch into October or November — though its very affordable price should make it worth the wait.
