Since June 2020, Apple has held all of its special events in a pre-recorded format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Up until then, the Cupertino-based company unveiled its latest products and software updates at in-person events at Apple Park.

The company plans to return to that format as soon as possible, but the current uncertainty about how the virus might mutate or evolve makes this more complicated than we all would like it to be.

Let me tell you about the Apple events planned for what’s left of 2022 and what the company is internally discussing regarding their format.

WWDC

The closest event right now is the Worldwide Developers Conference, which could start as soon as June 6.

Apple will unveil all of its latest software updates, and it is essential that developers from all parts of the world can attend this event.

The Cupertino-based company planned to make this the first in-person event since 2020, and while I haven’t got a definitive answer about this, it does look like we could have our first in-person event in less than two months.

It all depends on how the pandemic develops. I think it’s time to return to everyday life. But let me tell you about the other two events that are planned for this year.

September

The next hardware-focused event – Apple will unveil the iPhone 14, 14 Pro, new Macs, and iPads, and the company could even announce a subscription service to these devices in September.

If the Worldwide Developers Conference ends up being pre-recorded, there are virtually no chances of this one being pre-recorded too.

As I told you, the Cupertino-based company wants the WWDC to be the next in-person event, but if that doesn’t happen, the September event will be it. That’s unless a major catastrophe occurs, and judging by these last two years, that wouldn’t really surprise me.

October

It will be the last event of the year, and it will be mainly focused on the Mac and new Apple Silicon chips. We could see the M2 MacBook Air, a redesigned Mac mini, or even an iMac Pro. It is certainly too soon to know, but I’ll keep you posted.

Let me know what you think about this in the comments below. Are you excited about the return of in-person events? I hope you found this article helpful. As always, have a fantastic day.
