Apple is reportedly working on a new iMac that will boast a more than 30-inch display, which would make it the largest display for Apple’s all-in-one computer. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently shared the news in his weekly Power On newsletter, although he also said the larger iMac’s debut remains “further out,” indicating the new iMac may not hit shelves for at least a year or two.

“The company is also conducting early work on an iMac with a screen over 30 inches,” wrote Gurman, who didn’t share any additional details in the newsletter.

While new iMacs are currently only available with a 24-inch display, the now-discontinued Intel-based 27-inch iMac and iMac Pro models are still available as refurbished models.

Until Apple does release an iMac with a larger display, those in need of a screen greater than 24 inches need to purchase Apple’s 27-inch Studio Display or a competing larger monitor and connect it to a Mac powered by Apple Silicon such as the Mac Studio or Mac mini.

The current 24-inch iMac debuted in April 2021, and boasts a colorful, super-thin design powered by Apple’s M1 chip. Gurman says he expects the 24-inch iMac to be updated with Apple’s as-yet-unannounced M3 chip sometime early next year. While Apple’s current Apple silicon-based processors all use TSMC’s 5nm process, the M3 chips are expected to be fabricated using TSMC’s newer 3nm process, which should deliver impressive performance and power efficiency improvements.

A larger iMac is just one of several new Apple products Gurman sees on the horizon. In his newsletter, Gurman said Apple is planning to debut two new Apple Watch Series 9 models, as well as a new second-generation Apple Watch Ultra. The new Apple Watch models are expected to be unveiled alongside Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 lineup at a media event to likely be held in September.

Gurman also expects to see Apple make substantial updates to its Mac lineup, either late this year or sometime in early 2024. The updated lineup will likely include new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, boasting M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. Also said to be included in the new Mac roadmap is an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro powered by an M3 chip, a pair of new MacBook Air models, and refreshed 24-inch iMacs.

Gurman also repeated his earlier comments that an updated iPad Air will be released to replace the current M1-powered tablet, as well as two new iPad Pro models sporting OLED displays debuting in 2024.

Gurman says that third-generation AirPods Pro, an updated Apple TV, and other equipment such as smart displays are also being developed. A new generation of Apple’s Vision Pro headset likely won’t make an appearance before 2025, said Gurman.

Gurman also recently said that Apple has plans for a lower-priced version of its recently unveiled Vision Pro headset by the end of 2025. Gurman says the lower-priced version of the headsets will likely be called either “Apple Vision One” or “Apple Vision.”

Apple could achieve the reduced price of a “budget” Vision Pro headset by swapping out the current headset’s dual 4K microLED displays and M2 Apple silicon chip with cheaper components and by removing some of the cameras used in the current model.
