There’s a new piece of evidence that could point toward Apple’s 2018 keynote being held on Sept. 12 of this year.

Reportedly, certain international mobile carriers are gearing up for new iPhone preorders that will kick off on Friday, Sept. 14. The rumor comes from German Apple blog Macerkopf, which cited information sourced from a pair of unnamed carriers in the country.

While Apple has yet to announce the date of its annual fall keynote, there’s a good chance that it will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 12 this year.

After taking the wraps off a new iPhone, Apple usually makes it available for preorder on the closest Friday. Macerkopf’s report that preorders will open on Sept. 14 corroborates Apple’s keynote landing on the Wednesday of that week.

When Can I Pre-Order the New iPhones?

If this year isn’t any different, it means that Apple’s new slate of iPhones will become available for preorder at midnight Pacific Time on Friday, Sept. 14.

The new Apple handsets would then hit store shelves and starting shipping to customers the following Friday, Sept. 21.

Apple is largely expected to debut three new iPhones this year:

  1. A direct iPhone X successor with a 5.8-inch OLED
  2. A larger iPhone X Plus with a 6.5-inch OLED
  3. And a lower-cost iPhone with a 6.1-inch LCD display

All three handsets are expected to sport an edge-to-edge display design and a TrueDepth Camera in lieu of a Home button and Touch ID. Based on the latest rumors, they’ll also pack wireless charging and Apple’s newest A12 chipset.

The LCD iPhone could retail for as low as $599 to $699, with the iPhone X successor dropping to $899. The larger iPhone X Plus is expected to take over the $999 price tier.

Along with new iPhones, Apple is largely expected to debut a slew of products at this year’s fall event. That includes new iPad Pro models with Face ID and no Home button, new Macs (including a possible Mac mini refresh), and its long-awaited AirPower wireless charging mat and corresponding AirPods case. You can read more about what to expect at this year’s fall event here.
