According to Microsoft, the Remond-based computer giant is currently working on an effort to bring its highly acclaimed Windows Phone keyboard to the iOS platform.

Better known by Microsoft and Windows Phone users as “WordFlow,” the company’s keyboard is yet another feature — exclusive to its Windows Phone devices — that will soon make its way to the iOS platform.

According to The Verge, Windows Insider testers are currently being recruited to test WordFlow on the iPhone. And while no official release date has been announced as of yet, the fact that WordFlow on iPhone is currently in the testing phase indicates that we may be closer to an official release than we think.

On Windows Phone devices, WordFlow offers up a number of features — such as Swype-style typing, and gesture input — that, although not unique to the smartphone world, still make the keyboard a much easier experience to use. Google offers a similar solution, via a standalone app, known as Google Keyboard, for Android devices.

Current Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, has shown a willingness to shelve the concept of platform exclusivity, in favor of trying to get products in front of as many users as possible. For example a consortium of the company’s mobile Office apps are now available on iOS and Android; and most recently, Microsoft ported its Cortana voice assistant software to iOS.

Cortana was long considered, up until that point, a signature feature of Windows Phone and Windows 10.

Although Windows is still the most popular and widely used computer brand, worldwide, Windows Phones have for the most part failed to attract a large-scale following like Apple’s iPhone. Even still, we think it’d be a cool option to try out and experiment with the various features of the Windows Phone keyboard on our iOS devices.
