There’s definitely good things to be said about quality, convenience, and cost-effectiveness. These are, after all, what most people look for above all else, when shopping for goods or services in the free and open market.

And while, generally speaking, customers have a number of options or avenues to pursue when it comes to obtaining these good or services, the majority of us value consistency, integrity, and formidability in the products we buy — and we want those products to be backed by a trusted brand, and a well-known, time-tested guarantee.

Yet for one of the nation’s largest satellite television providers, it seems that branching off and entertaining new, completely unrelated service offerings — presumably in an effort to boost profits — might be the best way in which to realize those aforementioned attributes.

Yes, that’s right! America’s favorite satellite TV provider, Dish Network, will apparently be launching an on-demand, mobile iPhone repair service, the company announced Tuesday.

The service, available to customers in the U.S., will reportedly feature a wide-range of repair types — including battery and screen replacement, if necessary. The service will cost, at the absolute minimum, $34.99, for a “Drive to Me” fee, which covers the cost of a Dish certified, mobile technician to mosey on over to your neck of the woods and quell all of your iPhone anomalies.

After the initial fee, services will reportedly range anywhere from an additional $40 to $190 — depending, of course, on the iPhone model and the exact service needed to get your wounded device back up and running like a champ again.

For instance, while a typical battery replacement will run you $74.99 ($34.99 fee + $40 battery), Dish’s iPhone repair services can ultimately run up to as much as $224.98 — which would cover the initial fee + a cracked screen replacement + a battery replacement (on Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus).

Also, while Dish indicated that “more devices would be coming soon,” the company is launching its new mobile iPhone repair army with support for Apple’s iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, and 6 Plus.

While it’s not entirely clear why Dish would even bother entering this type of business — especially seeing as how the company has been a satellite TV provider, from the get-go, there is certainly no doubt that the smartphone industry is booming — with very little signs of slowing down.

And while Dish’s iPhone repair costs might seem unrealistic to some, if you don’t have an AppleCare+ protection plan — or if your device is out of warranty, they can potentially run less than you’d end up spending elsewhere.

Also, I mean, come on — can you really put a value on having your iPhone repaired in the comfort of your own home? We didn’t think so.

Would you ever consider having your iPhone repaired by Dish Network’s new program? Let us know in the comments.
