Apple kicked off its October Unleashed event with a focus on music. After extolling the virtues of Apple Music, the company introduced a new tier for its Apple Music subscription plan.

This new Voice Plan may be attractive because of its $4.99 monthly price tag, but its features may not appeal to everyone.

The new Voice Plan add-on subscription allows users to access the service’s music catalog using Siri voice commands.

Voice Plan is aimed at people who primarily use screenless devices like the HomePod mini or AirPods to listen to music.

The Voice Plan will launch later this fall in 17 countries worldwide. Those who opt to access Apple Music using this new voice-only plan will pay $4.99 per month.

Apple’s new Voice Plan joins Apple’s other music subscriptions as the company’s entry-level offering. Those who want more robust device access can upgrade to an individual plan, which costs $9.99 per month.
