Amazon Prime Day 2024 Kicks off for July 16 and 17

It’s official! If you’ve been hoping to score some deals on everything from electronics to household goods, Amazon has just announced its 2024 Prime Day sale will be held on July 16–17.
Despite the singular name, Prime Day is actually a two-day sale during which Amazon Prime members can get access to some deep discounts that will drop regularly over the course of the 48-hour event.
It’s the tenth year for Prime Day, which means we can probably expect some bigger deals in commemoration of the event’s Aluminum anniversary.
There’s little doubt that Apple devices and related accessories will be a big part of Prime Day this year, although the e-tailer is being a bit cagey on those right now. The key brands listed in today’s announcement are Clinique, Allbirds, Sony, KitchenAid, Kiehl’s, and Peloton.
Prime Day is a celebration of the value we bring to members all year long, and features millions of deals across more than 35 product categories as well as discounts on Amazon devices, quality entertainment, groceries, travel, and more during the event. In fact, over the course of last year, Amazon customers saved nearly $24 billion from deals and coupons—with Prime members enjoying the vast majority of those savings—including over $2.5 billion during Prime Day 2023.Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime
Invite-only deals are also returning for 2024. Introduced last summer, these allow Prime members to request an early invitation for some of the best deals, effectively reserving their place in line. However, it’s also something of a lottery, rather than a first-come-first-served arrangement. Amazon lists these invite-only deals before Prime Day, and members request an invite and wait to hear back. Those selected get a unique link they can use to buy the item at the deal price during the Prime Day event.
While the invite-only deals are mostly the same as last year, it appears that those granted invites may have to be a bit more on the ball, as the links will expire four hours after they’re sent out. Last year’s invite-only links were available for the entire duration of the Prime Day sale.
For this year’s invite-only deals, Amazon has teased up to 40% off Sony Wireless Headphones and up to 30% off Peloton products, although we’ll have to wait and see which specific ones are included. For now, the invite-only deals include 40% off deals for a Speedo Champion Signature Swim bundle, up to 60% off for a Citizen Chronograph Watch and 58% off on a Foreo LUNA mini 3 set.
As usual, Prime Day will be made up of deals that will run for most of the event combined with limited-time lightning deals that drop every 30 minutes and last for a limited time — or until they sell out.
You’ll need to be an Amazon Prime member to take advantage of these deals, but a free trial membership also counts, which means you could sign up today — and get access to early Prime Day deals — and still have a valid (and free) membership for when Prime Day arrives next month.
