If you’ve been eagerly awaiting more Ted Lasso, then we have some good news: It looks like Season 4 of the hit series has begun filming.
The hint comes from Nick Mohammed, the actor who portrayed Nate Shelley, AFC Richmond’s erstwhile kit-man and assistant coach and later the short-lived head coach of rival team West Ham United. In a recent post on X shared by the folks at AppleInsider, Mohammed indicates that some tour dates for another show he’s working on will need to be postponed due to some filming that he’s not at liberty to disclose — although he conspicuously tagged the post with “#tedlasso.”
In the video, Mohammed makes the announcement in character as “Mr. Swallow,” being deliberately but somewhat comedically vague about the filming and the speculation folks might have on it.
I’ll be honest, it is for some filming that I’ve not been able to shift for love nor money. But, I cannot say what that filming is, but it will be announced shortly. In the meantime, I’d really appreciate if people just didn’t speculate as to what they think it might be, All right, okay? The last thing I want is for people to be going mad.

Near the end of that monologue, as he asks folks to avoid speculation, he pointedly waves around a version of the yellow ‘Believe” sign that was conspicuously hung over the door of Ted Lasso’s office.

This latest news from Mohammed doesn’t come as a big surprise, as we heard in October that Ted Lasso was set to begin filming Season 4 in January, so it sounds like everything is pretty much on track. However, this latest clip exemplifies the actor’s somewhat playful nature in hinting at things to come. Mohammed was one of the first to give us real hope that a new season was on the way when he shared a link to “The Complete Series” of Ted Lasso in May with a winking emoji to suggest that it may not be so complete after all.
Although many of the stars, writers, and producers said that Ted Lasso was written to be a three-season arc, when season 3 ended in May 2023, no one seemed comfortable calling it a “series finale.”
Instead, Ted Lasso himself, Jason Sudeikis, merely called it “the end of this story that we wanted to tell.” The finale did wrap things up satisfactorily, but there’s always room for more stories in the expanded Lasso-verse, and many fans were hungry for more.
Still, had this been any other series on Apple TV+, it may have been one and done. After all, Apple has brought many of its less popular shows to sudden stops, sometimes even on cliffhangers, as it did with The Big Door Prize, leaving fans aching for a conclusion they’ll never get.

However, Ted Lasso isn’t just any other series. It’s one of the jewels in Apple’s crown. From record viewership to becoming the most nominated freshman comedy series in Emmy Awards history (beating out 2010’s Glee), it went on to win multiple Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor (Jason Sudeikis), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Hannah Waddingham), Outstanding Support Actor (Brett Goldstein), Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing, Outstanding Sound Mixing, and Outstanding Casting.
While Season 4 of Ted Lasso may be a go, it’s still not entirely clear what form it will take. In August, Deadline reported that Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind Ted Lasso, had picked up options on Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), and was expected to pursue Juno Temple (Keeley Jones), who comes in under a different actors guild. Sadly, Phil Dunster (Jamie Tart) may not be a regular part of Season 4 due to conflicts with other work, although it’s possible he may show up for a guest appearance or two.

The biggest question is how much we’ll see of Ted himself. Jason Sudeikis has something in common with the character he played on the first three seasons: he also left his son behind in the US to shoot Ted Lasso in London. He reportedly hasn’t been too keen on the idea of doing that again, but the series also wouldn’t be moving ahead without his involvement on some level, as he’s also the head writer and executive producer.
There’s still no official word on when Ted Lasso Season 4 will make its premiere, but if Mohammed’s coy video has any merit, we could hear an official announcement soon.
