For the upcoming premiere of the iPhone 5se device, Apple is taking notes from the successful launch of the iPhone 6s. The company has decided to share the production across two companies for the new 4-inch device. Accordingly, it seems as though Foxconn Electronics and Wistron will both be suppliers for the iPhone 5se in order to make for a smooth launch.

Last week, DigiTimes announced that Apple brought manufacturer Wistron on board for the deployment of the iPhone 5se. Current supplier Foxconn will continue to lead the supply, but Wistron will help aid them. The overall hope is that enlisting a total of two suppliers for the production of the new device will help to lower production and supply risks.

More Developments on the Hotly Anticipated iPhone 5se

You may have heard of Wistron before: according to ValueWalk, Apple used the company for “the lamination on the touchscreens of the iPhone” around a year ago. And now, Apple has recruited them to take on a small order of the alleged iPhone 5se.

By hiring Wistron on for the iPhone 5se, Apple is “looking to nurture Wistron to become an iPhone assembly house,” according to the report from DigiTimes. Apple hopes to keep them on production for the iPhone 7 as well, which will also be split between the two manufacturers.

Wistron has yet to comment on the news; which isn’t entirely surprising considering that the iPhone 5se is supposedly still a secret. Originally called the iPhone 6c, the iPhone 5se will apparently house an A8 or A9 processor, more RAM, and maybe even Apple Pay. But in truth, all of it is speculation. Not much is truly known about the rumored device.

Rumors are pointing to an Apple event sometime next month that will debut this more affordable, smaller iPhone 5se device; which may be released alongside the new iPad Air 3. The kicker? Rumor has it that the device will be available for purchase only three days after its induction into the iPhone lineup.
