It was recently revealed that a few of the forthcoming pieces from Apple’s 2016 arsenal of hardware — the ‘iPhone 5se’ and ‘iPad Air 3’, will be unveiled at a special event held on the 15th of March. And now, so it seems — if a new rumor is to be taken with no more than a grain of salt, users could potentially be getting their hands on the newest members of Apple’s family within just days of the event.

9to5Mac, citing sources familiar with Apple’s imminent plans, reported on Friday that the Cupertino, California iPhone maker is expected to release its newest tech — the 4-inch ‘iPhone 5se’ and a revamped, 3rd-generation iPaid Air — just days after they’re officially unveiled at a March 15th special event. The report pegs the release for the following Friday, March 18th.

To see the new 4-inch iPhone hit store shelves so soon after its debut, however, would be somewhat of an unconventional move on Apple’s part. The iPhone maker has historically stuck to a relatively routine schedule, waiting at least 2-weeks — and in the case of the iPhone 6s, 3-weeks — to formally launch its latest handset.

iPad announcements, on the other hand, typically tend to vary between unveiling and launch. For instance, on the 9th of September, 2015, both the iPad mini 4 and iPad Pro were unveiled; however, while the smaller, 4th-generation mini iPad was released that same day, the iPad Pro didn’t officially see the light of day until the 13th of November.

Production of the Silicon Valley tech-giant’s 4-inch iPhone is currently underway, and is expected to launch with enhancements such as a metal-backed, curved-edge design — similar to the current iPhone 6s, in addition to refreshed internals along the lines of either an A8 or A9 chipset, more RAM, and NFC support for Apple Pay. The device’s name is still unknown, however it’s rumored to be called either the ‘iPhone 6c’, ‘iPhone 5se’, or something different altogether.

We’ll just have to wait and see what happens …

As for the ‘iPad Air 3’ — Apple’s 3rd-generation 9.7-inch iPad featuring 64-bit desktop class processing, many of the features are expected to mimic those found in the company’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Among them, most notably, would be the Smart Connector magnetic port and a four-speaker set-up. Additionally, recently leaked schematics show the device could feature an LED camera flash around back.

Apple is also expected to launch new casings and bands to expand upon its Watch line at the same event. Meanwhile, the company is also reportedly gearing up to launch its 2016 line of new MacBooks sometime in the first-half of 2016, although it’s currently unknown when those will be released — if at the same March event, or at a later time closer to WWDC in June.
