We know almost nothing about the next-generation Apple Pencil. There’s no target launch date or leaked specs. It’s been radio silence until now.

Our first realistic leak suggests the all-white Apple pencil may be available for the first time in the color black. This tidbit comes, ironically, from Apple leaker Mr. White who shared this information on Twitter, shown below.

We know very little about the next Apple Pencil, but we can assume it will be compatible with Apple’s future mini-LED iPads. It would make sense that Apple would build the new Pencil to work with its newest iPad Pro models.

We don’t know if Apple is going to offer the Pencil in black only or if the company will produce the Pencil in finishes that match the color of the iPads.

Early rumors suggested a 12.9-inch min-LED iPad Pro could arrive as early as this fall, but more recent rumors suggest these plans have been delayed.

Apple’s suppliers reportedly are preparing for a mass production run at the end of the year, which means these new mini-LED devices likely won’t be available until 2021.

Apple already launched new versions of the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro earlier this year. Both of those tablets are compatible with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil.

It is highly unlikely Apple will launch a new pencil as a stand-alone product announcement, so we are not expecting to see a new pencil this year. Apple would be able to promote the Pencil when it launches a new iPad model, especially if the new Pencil works with new features added to the tablet platform.
