As the release of the iPhone 7 this September draws closer, we are beginning to get a better glimpse at the design of the device. Multiple “leaked” images of the device have popped up in recent months – and while some are faked and based purely off of speculation, some come from legitimate sources, and work to confirm or deny several of the most prolific rumors surrounding the device.

Images leaked last week that surfaced on French technology site NoWhereElse.fr displayed an identical design to leaks previously posted on the site as well as Chinese social media site Weibo. If those leaks are to be believed, we can expect to see a back panel with redesigned antenna lines, sitting along the top and bottom curves of the device, as well as an upgraded camera with a larger lens cutout. Several images have also surfaced showcasing the bottom of the device, seeming to confirm that the iPhone 7 will indeed ditch the traditional headphone jack in lieu of another row of speakers.

However one rumor that has been circulating the net for several months now claims that we will see several new color options for the upcoming device. Japanese site Macotakara last month speculated that Apple would release a “Deep Blue” model of the device, getting rid of the popular Space Gray. Several other sites predicted that Apple would also release a “Space Black” finish similar to the color available for Apple Watch.

New photos from Italian site macitynet.it, however, refute this claim. The photos, posted early this morning, depict a set of four “dummy” models of the new iPhone, sporting the same design we have seen in previous leaks. And unfortunately, among the four dummy models, none are “Space Black” or “Deep Blue” – the phones are the same four colors that we have already seen with the iPhone 6s – Silver, Space Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold. The corresponding report also refutes the rumor that a new color option will be added.

Shortly after the dummy images were posted on macitynet.it, NoWhereElse.fr posted images found on Weibo, displaying the same four colors seen in the previous leak. If Apple is indeed looking to release a new color for the iPhone 7, it certainly isn’t represented in the latest round of leaked photos.

The iPhone 7, which will likely be released this coming September, looks to be an incremental upgrade to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. So far, leaks have shown a slightly redesigned casing with re-positioned antenna lines, as well as an upgraded camera and removal of the traditional headphone jack. At the moment, there is no evidence that the iPhone 7 will be released in any additional or different colors than the iPhone 6s. The device is also expected to feature beefed up internals, as well as new, larger memory options.

The iPhone 7 Plus is also expected to feature an upgraded dual-camera design, although no truly credible leaked images have surfaced displaying the design yet.

What do you think about the iPhone 7’s rumored color options? Do you think it’s time they switch things up or are the old/current color options sufficient for your taste? Let us know in the comments section below.
