When the Apple Watch was revealed last September, we weren’t presented with a whole lot of details. One of the questions many potential Apple Watch owners have had is regarding the water resistance of the device. Although Apple has not officially released any word regarding the water resistance of the Watch, Apple representatives have hinted in the past that the wearable will be water resistant, but not waterproof – fine for say, washing the dishes or working out, but not for swimming. Recent comments made by Apple CEO Tim Cook may indicate otherwise.

On a recent trip to Berlin, Cook reportedly made some interesting comments regarding the Apple Watch. French site iGen has reported that Cook was overheard telling an Apple employee at the Kurfürstendamm Apple Store that he wears the watch everywhere – “even in the shower.” Although not an official statement, this is the first we’ve heard concerning just how water resistant the Apple Watch will be.

Other statements reportedly made by the Apple CEO may also clarify what daily use of the Watch may look like. Cook reportedly stated that he removes the watch every night for charging, hinting at a one-day capacity for battery use. Cook also was heard stating that Apple Pay will be available in Europe by “the end of the year” (but may be available in Canada as early as March).

As usual, Apple has released no official comment on any of these matters, but if these statements were indeed made by the CEO himself, they are about as credible as can be. We may not know the water resistance or battery life for sure until the release in April, but these comments sure are interesting.
