You thought the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch were already great, but it just keeps getting better. Apple is famous for continuously pushing out software updates for their iOS platform, which ultimately make your devices more superior, each and every year. This fall, the official release of iOS 9 will be bestowed upon us and this particular update includes five extraordinary features. These features will make your life easier and are a must-have for any iDevice user.

Battery Lifeiphone batter life
Battery life might be the biggest deciding factor when choosing a smartphone. iPhone battery life is remarkable compared to the competition, but still leaves room for improvement. Fortunately, battery life will be improved dramatically in iOS 9. iOS 9 will power your iPhone’s battery an entire hour longer than it did in iOS 8. Are you wondering how they will accomplish this feat? Apple surely won’t reveal any secrets, but it’s a feature we are ecstatic to see in the update, so we won’t ask any questions.

Even better yet, iOS 9 will include a new feature aptly named “Low Power Mode.” Have you ever sifted through your settings, turning off every bell and whistle including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and syncing schedules just to squeeze out some more battery life? I certainly have, and that is why I’m undeniably ready for Low Power Mode in iOS 9. Instead of going through all your settings attempting to turn off any unnecessary features possible to lengthen your battery power, Low Power Mode does it all for you. It even “pulls levers you didn’t even know about” extending battery life by up to 3 hours, which could be a lifesaver in emergency situations.

Smaller File Sizeiossolve6Updating iOS used to be a painful process. Most updates were larger than 3 gigabytes in size requiring the average user to delete hundreds of photos, dozens of apps, and maybe their entire music library just to install the newest version of iOS. Every Apple fan will be pleased to hear Apple has reduced the amount of space needed to upgrade to iOS 9. The new operating system has been slimmed down to only one gigabyte, making it a bite-size download that most users can chew.

Proactive Sirisiri-inlineIntelligence is key in this fast paced culture of ours. We need our phones to be smarter and to be proactive rather than reactive. In iOS 9, almost everything has become keener. Siri is back with a new look, but more importantly will be able to complete tasks before you even think about them. For example, actions based on your location might play your “work out” playlist for you, as you walk into your gym and plug in your headphones.

Dining out is even simpler. If you receive a notification for a reservation in an email, Siri will automatically add the reservation to your calendar. Siri will also remind you of the reservation and pull up directions the moment as you should leave based on traffic. All of this to make sure you make it to the restaurant on time.

Siri will also be able to sort through your recent emails, messages, and notes to find contact information. Upon receiving a phone call from a number you don’t recognize, Siri might find that same phone number in the signature of an email from Johnny Appleseed. Siri will suggest that it could be “Johnny Appleseed” calling. This feature could save you from answering a phone call from an unexpected person or simply save you the time it would take to create a new contact.

True Multitaskingipad multiaskingWhile the iPad Air 2 is the only device we know for sure will receive all the goodies of iOS 9, it is likely that other iPad models will receive true multi-tasking. This means you can work on two things simultaneously, side-by side, without the need to minimize the application, open another, minimize, go back to the original app, and repeat. This will save a lot of time and headache for anyone that works from an iPad. Apple would be smart to include this feature on the iPhone 6 Plus. This would make the smartphone perfect for traveling writers or businessmen who need the power for productivity on-the-go.
