Let’s be honest with ourselves on this one, how many times have we parked our cars amongst an otherwise packed lot of seemingly identical ones? “Where on Earth did I park my car?!?” you might panic, as you frantically pace the aisles upon aisles of other automobiles, growing increasingly desperate in the search for your own.. Maybe once or twice before, right?

Well, take comfort, friends, knowing that you’re certainly not alone. It happens to the best of us.

And while forgetting where you parked your car is undeniably a pain in the butt, thanks to some pretty useful advancements in Apple’s forthcoming iOS 10 update, the reality will soon become nothing but an issue of yesteryear.

iOS 10’s vastly overhauled Maps app will soon be able to remember EXACTLY where you parked your car, and will guide you to that destination in the event that a frantic search effort arises.

For trips that don’t end at your “Home” location, Maps in iOS 10 will automatically remember where you parked your car — without any intervention on your behalf, when you first park at an unknown location.

First discovered in the iOS 10 developer beta by AppleInsider reader Ophir, the new feature will alert you whenever your car is parked at a location other than your home address — and will then drop a pin in that exact location.

Best of all, though: when you’re looking for your car, you can simply whip out your iPhone and receive “walking” directions to exactly where your vehicle is located.

iOS 10’s new lock screen widgets will also feature a “Parked Car” option as an automatically recommended destination, which can be enabled under Settings > Maps in iOS 10. The widget will then show up on your iPhone’s lock screen for easy access when you’re attempting to make your way back to your car.

At Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this week, the company also showcased a plethora of other new features coming to Maps in iOS 10 — including the ability for 3rd party apps to add their own extensions. For instance, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, showed off the ability to order a car via Uber, or find a restaurant and make reservations using OneTable — all via the Maps app.

Additional new features of Maps in iOS 10 include fast and easy access to points of interest along your current route — such as restaurants, banks, or gas stations, as well as real-time updates on traffic conditions or inherent road hazards.

iOS 10 will be available to the public later this fall.
