Google Maps was updated to version 4.2 yesterday morning. The update includes several bug fixes, and adds some new features to further enhance the user experience in their already wonderful app.

Google Maps has always been an impressive app. With comprehensive maps of 220 countries, incredibly accurate directions and voice-guided GPS, live traffic conditions, and street view, Google Maps is one of our most oft-used apps. Version 4.2, however, brings us even more features. Users now have the ability to filter restaurant searches by type and cuisine, and the update also brings weather information for cities across the globe. Users can also “drop a pin” at their starting and end points in directions and navigation. Lastly, the update allows users to add transit directions to your calendar.

This update adds to the already remarkable host of features found in Google Maps. Whether you’re new to the app and just beginning to explore the features, or you’re an already regular user eager to try the new improvements, version 4.2 is exciting news for owners of iOS devices.
