Apple TV owners have tried to use FaceTime on their devices to no avail. That’s because Apple hasn’t yet made the ability to make or receive calls from the Apple TV possible – but, if you’re an Xbox user, you’re in luck.

Apparently, Apple made FaceTime calls work on the Xbox console, even if that doesn’t make much sense.

Recently, a Reddit user who goes by the name of u/JavonTEvans, shared on a post that they can join FaceTime calls on their Xbox with the help of a FaceTime link.

Apple introduced FaceTime links in the iOS 15 update as a way for everyone to join FaceTime calls, even if they don’t own an Apple device.

With FaceTime links, you can enter a FaceTime call with an Android, Windows, or other Microsoft device (including the Xbox console).

Technically, now any device that has access to an internet browser, like Google Chrome, is able to join FaceTime calls, just like user JavonTEvans shared on Reddit.

According to JavonTEvans, all they needed to do was open a FaceTime link on the Xbox’s Microsoft Edge browser. They then connected a Logitech C930 camera to their Xbox, and it just worked.

As of right now, the Apple TV system doesn’t have a native FaceTime app, so it’s not possible to make or receive FaceTime calls. On top of that, the device doesn’t have any ports to connect a camera, so it wouldn’t work as expected anyway.

But there might be a reason for this. There have been rumors that Apple’s working on a new device that will act as a combination of the Apple TV and the HomePod. This device could come with a built-in camera that might be able to support FaceTime.

Even though this is just a rumor, it could be a good way for Apple to implement FaceTime on an Apple TV device without drastically changing the current generation.
