ESPN released their newly revamped mobile app last week, featuring native resolution support for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPad. Formerly called ESPN SportsCenter, the new app offers a much-needed upgrade to the old, outdated SportsCenter app.

The iOS native resolution support also comes with a long-overdue face-lift. The app features a new design aesthetic, more streamlined with the iOS look. It also consolidates the old SportsCenter and ScoreCenter apps, with more content and a more user-friendly navigation system. This is especially evident in the iPad app, where a “favorites” bar sits in the bottom corner of the screen. This feature allows users to check scores, news, and other data concerning their favorite teams. In both versions of the app, a “now” column has been added, with a short, up-to-the-minute Twitter-like feed featuring the most breaking sporting news.

While not offering anything groundbreaking, the latest version of the ESPN app offers a much-improved user experience compared to its predecessor. Faster, more streamlined, and better looking with more content and improved navigation, this app is a must-download for any sports fan.
