Check Out This Rare Apple Gift Card Promo for ‘Clash of Clans’ Fans

Apple has unveiled an exceptionally rare and unusual promo that offers bonus in-game currency with the purchase of an Apple Gift Card.

While it’s not unheard of, it’s relatively uncommon for Apple to tie promotions into specific App Store titles. However, for a limited time, it seems that Clash of Clans gamers can score up to 1,200 gems when purchasing an Apple Gift Card from select retailers.

The promo went out in an email to customers today. While it’s unclear how far and wide the emails spread, they don’t seem to be confined only to those folks who already play Clash of Clans, as it’s appeared in the mailboxes of some who have never even looked at the game on the App Store, much less downloaded it.

The offer appears to be running in at least the US and Canada, although the list of eligible retailers differs. In Canada, it’s available exclusively for Apple Gift Cards purchased from Walmart, either in-store or online. In the US, qualifying gift cards can be purchased online and in-store from Best Buy or Giant Eagle, or in-store only from Albertsons, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Food Lion, GameStop, Giant, HEB, and Stop & Shop.

Notably, Gift Cards purchased directly from Apple — either online or in an Apple retail store — do not qualify.

The promotion has two tiers, depending on the value of the Gift Card purchased. An Apple Gift Card of $50 or more will net you a Bag of Gems (1,200 gems), while a $25–49.99 Apple Gift Card gets you a mere Pile of Gems (500 gems).

Considering a Pile of Gems costs $4.99 and a Bag of Gems goes for $9.99, that works out to a 20% return on investment if you buy only the minimum gift cards. Folks in Canada will do even better at 28% since the gift card tiers are the same, but the in-game purchases are $6.99 CAD and $13.99 CAD, respectively.

In both countries, the gift cards must be purchased by March 31, 2024, and the offer redeemed by April 7, 2024, to get the bonus gems. Apple also says that “each Apple ID may redeem maximum one of each of the two bonus offers based on purchased gift card denomination,” which suggests that you could conceivably score up to 1,700 free gems by purchasing two Apple Gift Cards.

Apple’s new universal gift cards can be used for nearly anything Apple sells, including in-game purchases, so if you’re a Clash of Clans fanatic who regularly spends money on gems, this is a great way to make your money go even further. However, an Apple Gift Card can also be used to purchase products at an Apple Store or even loaded onto your Apple account balance to cover future purchases or make Apple One or Apple Music subscription payments.
