Coronavirus may have canceled the parades and parties, but that won’t stop Apple from celebrating Pride Month. Apple today announced two new Apple Watch Sport Bands with a pride theme. The Sport Band and Nike Sport Band are available now and will pair with two new watch faces that debuted with watchOS 6.2.5.

Apple Pride Edition Sport Band

Apple’s new Pride Edition Sport Band for the Apple Watch is bright and colorful with a vertical stripe rainbow design. Each band is assembled by hand from individual strips of colored elastomer. As a result, no two bands are exactly alike. The Sport Band will match a similar banded rainbow Apple Watch face that’s available now in watchOS 6.2.5.

Nike Pride Edition Sport Band

The new Nike Pride Edition Sport Band is more subtle in its coloring but equally as potent in its statement. The all-white band is accented with rainbow colors that fill each perforation in the band. The Sport Band will pair with a sleek black watch face dotted with a rainbow-colored dial.

Availability

Both the Pride Edition and Nike Pride Edition Sport Bands are available online at Apple.com and in-store at select Apple retail locations. Each band will cost $49 and is available in either 40mm or 44mm sizes.

Bringing About Positive Change

Apple last year released a Pride Edition Nylon Sport Loop, but this is the first time the company partnered with Nike on its Pride band collection. Apple times these releases to coincide with Pride Month, which is held each year annually in June. This year’s version is even more significant as many festivals, Pride gatherings and parades are canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Through this combined effort, Apple and Nike are supporting community and advocacy LGBTQ organizations worldwide. These groups include GLSEN, PFLAG, The Trevor Project, Gender Spectrum, The National Center for Transgender Equality, and ILGA World. ILGA World covers more than 150 countries and regions worldwide and has more than 1,600 organizations under its umbrella.
