Over a decade after it’s launch, Facebook is still one of the most popular and widely used social media platforms on the web.
So how does a company like Facebook stay at the top of the heap, especially in the face of such stiff competition from the likes of Twitter, Instagram, Google+?
Well that’s easy: just introduce a cool new feature or two and you’re set! And they have, over and over again, most recently debuting the option of setting an animated “profile video” in the place of the standard picture on iPhone.
The feature might not be available to every iPhone user just yet, seeing as how it was introduced at the end of September, 2015. Nevertheless, though, we’re going to walk you through the step-by-step process of how to create your own, unique Facebook profile video.
Step 1: Navigate to the Facebook app on your iPhone and open it > once open, select “More” from the bottom-right corner of the menu bar.
Step 2: From the More section > tap on your Profile Name.
(On the next screen, you’ll see your existing profile image. If your account happens to have profile videos as an option, you’ll notice how the camera icon — located on the bottom-right — will switch between either of two camera or video icons.)
Step 3: Tap on your profile image to pull up the pop-up menu. From there > select “Take a New Profile Video” or “Upload Video or Photo.” (You can just upload a video if you already have one saved in your Photos app.)
Allow Facebook access to your Camera.
Step 4: Record a video that you’d like to use as your profile video. Keep in mind, videos can only be 7 seconds in length. Once recorded > select “Next,” at which point you’ll be asked to select a thumbnail from the video. Drag the slider to select which portion of the video you’d like to set as your image when video is unavailable.
Step 5: Now that your new video is saved and your thumbnail is selected, simply navigate to your profile by tapping the image and enjoy the show!
