You Can Get Some Great Streaming Deals This Black Friday
Toggle Dark Mode
Black Friday isn’t just the best time to buy new Apple toys. It’s also an excellent opportunity to try out new streaming services or revisit old ones. As usual, there are some great deals to be found on nearly all of them.
Those deals are even more compelling this year since many of them have seen multiple price hikes over the past two years. While not every deal is long-term, the beauty of most of these services is you can sign up for a few months, binge-watch your favorite shows, and then cancel when the prices go back up.
However, the discounts here are so substantial that they may help take some of the sting out of a longer-term subscription. For example, you can get the Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads for only $2.99 per month for twelve months, which means that even if you decide to stick around for a second year at the full $10.99 price, the average will work out to $6.99 per month. That feels more like what streaming services used to charge.
Here’s a brief rundown of what’s on offer this year.
Disney+ and Hulu
Disney has the best deals this year since its deep discounts are available for a whole year.
- Hulu (with ads) is 90% off at $0.99 per month for 12 months, or $11.88 for the whole year, down from the regular price of $9.99 monthly.
- The Duo Basic Disney+ and Hulu bundle is 73% off at $2.99 monthly for 12 months, down from $10.99. That works out to $35.88 for the year instead of the $131.88 it normally costs for both services.
Disney’s Black Friday deals run until Monday, December 2 at 11:59 p.m. PT and are available to both new customers and former subscribers who have been away for at least a month.
These Black Friday deals are only for the ad-supported plans. This means you won’t get offline viewing and you’ll have to sit through a few commercials. Still, that’s much more tolerable for $0.99 or $2.99 monthly than paying $10+ every month.
Peacock
Between now and Monday night, you can grab Peacock’s Premium with Ads service for only $1.99 per month, although that price is only for the next six months, after which it goes up to the regular $7.99. However, Peacock also lets you jump in for an entire year by paying $19.99 upfront for an annual plan, down from $79.99 per year. Both discounts require you to enter specific promo codes: REALDEALMONTHLY for the monthly plan or REALDEAL for the annual one.
As usual, you can’t get these deals if you’re already a Peacock subscriber, but it appears to be open to former subscribers, even if their accounts only lapsed recently.
Max
New and returning Max subscribers can sign up for Max with Ads for only $2.99 per month, a 70% savings over the normal $9.99 monthly price. Again, this is an ad-supported plan, and there are no deals on the ad-free version of the “Ultimate” bundle that ties Max in with Disney+ and Hulu. It’s available until December 2.
Paramount+ with Showtime
While Paramount+ is offering one of the few ad-free deals, with 77% off the Paramount+ with Showtime plan, dropping the price to $2.99 per month down from $12.99. That catch? It’s only good for two months, after which you’ll be back at full price. Still, those savings are substantial enough that you’ll still be saving money overall, even if you stick around for another two months at full price. The upside is that this deal is available for a bit longer than the others — you can take advantage of it until December 4.
Amazon Prime Video Add-Ons
Although Amazon’s Prime Video isn’t offering any discounts on the base service, existing subscribers can take advantage of some Black Friday deals on add-on “channels.” This includes Paramount+ with Showtime, which is priced the same as the standalone offer above.
The others are all similar two-month offers:
- AMC Plus with ads: $1.25 per month, down from $4.99
- Brit Box: $2.25 per month, down from $8.99
- MGM Plus: $1.75 per month, down from $6.99.
- PBS Masterpiece: $1.50 per month, down from $5.99
- Starz: $2.75 per month, down from $10.99.
Sadly, even though some of these channels are also available through Apple TV, the discounts here are solely for Amazon Prime.
YouTube TV
Lastly, YouTube is offering two months of YouTube TV for $49.99 per month, down from the normal $72.99 price. That’s a savings of $46 over two months, which isn’t bad, but sadly, this one is a bit more restrictive than most. It’s exclusively for new subscribers and apparently excludes anyone who’s even done a free trial of YouTube TV.
