Apple Discounts MLS Season Pass For the Remainder of 2024

Apple is again offering a mid-season price drop for MLS Season Pass subscriptions, although it’s doing it earlier this year.
Last year, Apple cut the price of MLS Season Pass in half in June, hoping to draw in a few new midseason subscribers who might be more concerned about the ramp-up to the MLS Cup Championship than the early-season matches.
Since the MLS Cup runs in early December, June is the point at which the $14.99 monthly subscription becomes a better idea than the $99 full-season pass. Last year, Apple dropped that to $49 for the remaining five months of the season, making it a much better deal than signing up monthly at that point.
This year, the price drop is coming a month earlier, but it’s also not quite as lucrative of a deal as last time since it’s only a 30% discount. You’ll pay $69 to sign up for the rest of the season, which covers all matches through the MLS Cup 2024 on December 7. That’s still much less than what it would cost to pay monthly.
MLS Season Pass is available separately from Apple TV+, but if you subscribe to both services, you can get the pass for only $59, down from its regular $79 full-season price. The monthly subscription is similarly discounted for Apple TV+ subscribers at $12.99/month.
It’s probably not surprising that MLS Season Pass promotions have been more scarce this year, considering it’s now in its second season. During the 2023 launch season, Apple made a big deal out of offering MLS 360 for free to Apple TV+ subscribers, tossed out a one-month free trial in May, and partnered with T-Mobile to bundle MLS Season Pass for that service provider’s customers.
For 2024, Apple kicked off the season with an immersive Vision Pro experience, but that was arguably more about promoting Apple’s shiny new headset. One-month free trials went out in March, but only to select customers. Apple and MLS also streamed 14 matches free on St. Patty’s Day weekend, and superstar Lionel Messi offered a free trial for fans through his Instagram page.
While it hasn’t been widely reported, Apple also appears to be once again streaming all 14 weekend matches for free on May 4-5. The “Free Matches” section on the MLS Season Pass page that says “Watch every match this weekend on us” likely to give folks a teaser before the big Rivalry Week games get going later this month. Non-subscribers can also rewatch previous free matches from here, including the 13 matches that streamed during the March 16–17 promo weekend.
After this weekend, Apple will likely return to its more typical schedule of streaming three or four games for free each week. To see the rest, you’ll need to sign up for MLS Season Pass, which includes access not only to all regular season games, playoffs, and Leagues Cup championships, but also some MLS Next Pro and MLS NEXT matches, along with pre- and post-match coverage and analysis. The pass also includes player profiles, documentaries, and other exclusive content for fans.
North American Major League Soccer could also just be the tip of the iceberg for Apple’s sports ambitions. A report last week revealed that the company is also in the running to host the FIFA Club World Cup next summer — a major coup that would not only bring high-profile teams like Chelsea and Manchester City to Apple TV but also make the first time that FIFA has agreed to a single worldwide contract for streaming.
