5 Excellent Reasons to Purchase the iPhone 7 Plus Instead of the Standard iPhone 7

When Apple unveiled its iPhone 7 line of devices earlier this month, the larger, 5.5-inch variant was the first among them to sell out — in all color options and storage capacities; while demand for the smaller, 4.7-inch variant was relatively mellow (at least from a statistical vantage point); which was interesting considering the larger iPhone is a full $120 more than its sibling…

“Why bother then?” one might wonder. “What makes the iPhone Plus so great for all that extra money?” Well, while there exist a myriad of good reasons to consider shelling out the extra cash for the larger iPhone 7 Plus, here are five of the most compelling.

1. Bigger Screen, More Pixels

New Apple Patent Suggests iPhone 8 Will Boast an Advanced 'Dimming' OLED DisplayPerhaps this one is a bit more obvious — the iPhone 7 Plus boasts a screen that’s considerably larger than its counterpart. But I also think you have to take into consideration what you’re getting with all that extra screen real estate — aside from the extra space, in and of itself. The 4.7-inch iPhone is equipped with a 750p high definition LCD display, clocking in at 750 x 1,330 pixels, or 326 pixel per inch (ppi). Not exactly the highest resolution around, even considering Apple’s ‘Retina’ quality designation. On the other hand, however, iPhone 7 Plus is outfitted with a (comparatively) generous 5.5-inch, full 1080p HD display, (1080 x 1920 pixels), which clocks in at 401 ppi.

Sure, even 1080p is somewhat aged, considering the myriad of advanced, QHD and 2K displays that some Android manufacturers are churning out these days. But if, like myself, you’re an iPhone person, through and through, the iPhone 7 Plus’ whopping 5.5-inch Wide Color, 1080p Retina display is a worthy reason to go for the gusto, in itself.
