Apple Car Won’t Have a Physical Key, But Will Cost $100,000 or More, and Finally Launch in 2025 or 2026

The Apple Car is, by far, Apple’s most anticipated product of the last ten years. We’ve heard way too many things about it; some are right, some are wrong, and some are fake. This is why I wanted to give you a quick look at everything we know about the Apple Car and a couple of exclusive details. Let’s get to it!

This product goes by the name “Project Titan” inside Apple, which makes a lot of sense considering this is the biggest thing it has ever worked on.

The company has hired more than 1,000 engineers to work on it, but not everything has gone as planned. Multiple people that were in charge of the project left the company; this is true, but I don’t think it affected the project as much as some media outlets reported. It certainly delayed the development, but not as much as people think. More on that later.

Many news outlets reported on quite a few supposed “agreements” between Apple and other car manufacturers like Hyundai or BMW, and while these aren’t necessarily fake, I believe the Cupertino-based company plans to take a different approach and rely on other manufacturers like Foxconn. As far as I’m concerned, Apple doesn’t want other manufacturers, and therefore competitors, to mass-produce the Apple Car.

It is true that Apple has partnered with Lexus to manufacture some custom-made cars with LiDAR sensors that Apple is driving in California to test the sensors and gather data for Project Titan, but that doesn’t mean the company will rely on Lexus to produce the car.

Apple Car Pricing

I don’t want to be that guy, but I don’t expect the Apple Car to be cheap. Nowadays, you can buy a Tesla for around $46,000. Well, don’t expect the Apple Car to cost less than $100,000. As I always tell you, this isn’t final, there is a lot of work to do, and many things could change during the development process, but the price will be high, that’s for sure.

The reason behind this is that Apple doesn’t have any reputation as a car manufacturer, and the company feels like it has to wait until it can compete with a brand like Tesla. If it aims for a market that Tesla isn’t dominating, it will have the time to earn a reputation as a good car manufacturer, and only then could Apple start competing with Tesla at a lower price point.

The last thing I want to remind you is that you’ll probably need an iPhone to use the Apple Car. It won’t have a physical key like your typical car; instead, you’ll need to use Apple Car Key to get into it. Apple Car Exclusives

I’ve been informed by multiple people related to the matter that Apple is aiming to begin mass production in late 2024 or 2025. This doesn’t necessarily mean the Apple Car will be launched in 2025 since mass-producing a car takes way more time than what an iPhone or an Apple Watch takes.

I wouldn’t say Apple will wait until 2026 to unveil it, and it’ll probably do it in 2025, but if I ordered one, I wouldn’t expect to receive it until late 2025 or early 2026.

The company had previously planned to have the Apple Car ready by 2027, but it looks like that’s no longer the case. I have asked my sources if they knew the reason behind this move, but I haven’t got a clear answer to share this time. If I had to guess, I would say it has to do with how well the electric car market is developing.

When Apple plans to enter a new market, it usually waits a couple of years to see if other companies are doing good or bad, and given the recent success of Tesla, it does make sense that Apple wants to launch the Apple Car as soon as possible, but that’s just speculation.

Let me tell you about the other exclusive.

Some sources have suggested that the Cupertino-based company plans to use quite a few titanium parts in the Apple Car. This aligns with what I previously told you about Apple and how it is preparing to use titanium in some of its products.

Titanium is a very premium material, and I can see why the company wants to use it in the Apple Car. It looks and feels great, and it’s very strong, so it will create a premium “aura” around this car that will make it unique, just as what Apple plans with its Pro iPhones and other devices.

Conclusion

While I would love to own an Apple Car, it will definitely cost more than what I can afford right now, but for those who are willing to spend $100,000 on a car, I definitely advise you to wait for the Apple Car if you don’t need a new car right now.
