Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is the company’s next major event, with the company normally holding the conference in June – this time around it seems likely that the conference will be held between June 13 and June 17.

There are a number of things that are expected to show up at the conference, and while the conference is focused on software, Apple has been known to show off a few hardware products as well. Here’s what we expect to see.

OS X 10.12

The next version of Mac OS X, which will most likely be OS X 10.12 and has yet to be officially named, although recent reports suggest that it will be called “Fuji.” The operating system will include a number of great new features, with perhaps the most reported being the addition of Siri, bringing Apple’s famous personal assistant to the desktop.

This is actually a pretty significant move, and will only be the second major personal assistant to make it to desktop. While Cortana was the first, many users have turned the feature off – could Siri be useful enough to become a staple of OS X users’ daily computer use?

iOS 10

Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS, is also set for a refresh, with the next version to be called iOS 10. iOS 10 will not be released at WWDC, but will still most likely be teased, after which betas of the OS will be released to developers.

There are a number of new features to be expected from the operating system, although it’s not expected that the operating system will represent a major redesign. Some have suggested that iOS could benefit from the Dark Mode that was brought to OS X last year, something that will likely especially be helpful for those that use their phone at night.

WatchOS 3

WatchOS 2 was previewed at WWDC last year, so it stands to reason that the third version of the operating system will also be shown off at WWDC, although it probably won’t be released to the public until later this year.

It’s not exactly known what WatchOS 3 will include as far as upgrades go, however it’s likely that the device will become more autonomous and set apart from iOS, enabling users to use more of the device’s functionality without having their iPhone with them at all times. Not only that, but it’s also likely that app development from third parties will be picking up, and while that’s not something for Apple to release, it is something that could help push the development of WatchOS 3 and sales of the Apple Watch.

New MacBook Air

Although Apple could unveil a new MacBook Air at a media event it is said to be planning for the end of March, recent rumors suggest that Apple may instead wait for WWDC in June.

It’s important to note that the fate of the MacBook Air is currently a little uncertain, with some even suggesting that Apple may phase the model out and instead replace it with more standard “MacBook” models.

In any case, we think that a new MacBook Air model will be released this year, and it will likely include the new generation of Skylake processors, and may also include a new design, especially considering the fact that the computer has largely retained its design for the past few years. Hopefully it will also make use of the new USB-C standard, although it probably won’t only include USB-C ports like the MacBook.

iPhone SE

image5A third iPhone model is also expected to be released, and it could be released either at Apple’s rumored March event or at WWDC. This device is is set to be Apple’s 4-inch phone offering, and will also serve as Apple’s most budget-minded handset. The device has been rumored for a while now, and while the name itself is certainly not guaranteed, it’s likely the device will include a number of great features for the cost.

It is said that the device will cost somewhere between $400 and $500, and will offer a 12MP camera, which is a nice inclusion considering the fact that Apple’s flagship smartphones also include a 12MP camera. It’s unlikely that the device will include Apple’s latest processor, however hopefully it will be a recent one nonetheless.
