Last Monday, Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, where the company unveiled some very interesting new operating systems and products. However, many people were also expecting the company’s AR/VR headset. But as I told you last week, the product has been delayed until 2023. And right now, my sources indicate that there is a very high probability that Apple will unveil both the headset and realityOS at an event in January 2023.

According to people familiar with the matter, the Cupertino-based company plans to provide a development toolkit a few weeks later for any developers who want to either create a new app or adapt existing apps for realityOS. However, you should not expect to be able to buy the headset right after the event. I am told it will be on shelves sometime in late May or early June, not sooner. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but that’s the way it is.

Also, do not expect it to cost under $2,000, and if you want it, you should buy it as soon as it becomes available, as inventory will be very limited. Apple and its partners are having major supply chain issues in China, which will be reflected in the inventory levels of this headset and some other products.

There will also be problems with the iPhone 14, especially the iPhone 14 Max – and it’s getting harder and harder to predict product launches because there are so many problems in production.

It’s not all bad news, though; Ming-Chi Kuo Tweeted similar information to what I learned from my sources, although it differs a bit. He says that the engineering validation test, which is one of the different production phases Apple has with all its devices, should start in Q3 2022, while my sources indicate that this phase should begin in late Q2 2022. He also adds that there should be a pre-order at some point in 2Q 2023, but my sources say that hasn’t been decided yet. I am still glad we agree on most things because the more sources that point to the same thing, the more likely it is to happen.

This will be one of Apple’s most important announcements in the next decade. It will change the way Apple operates as a company and will inevitably herald the end of the iPhone era. I am not saying Apple will discontinue the iPhone in a year or two, I am just saying that AR and VR will eventually replace smartphones as we know them, and that includes the iPhone. In fact, that makes perfect sense. We see fewer and fewer improvements in smartphones every year, and AR and VR have great potential; and Apple will be a big contributor with the Apple View and eventually the Apple Glass.

I am very excited about the future and can not wait to see what Apple has prepared. Let me know what you think about it in the comments below. I hope you found this article helpful. As always, have a fantastic day.
