We’ve seen several leaks about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, but we haven’t seen much about possible color options. However, 9to5Mac reports that industry leaker Majin Bu has posted about a possible new sky blue color option for the Pro lineup.

Majin Bu wrote on his website:

Sources close to the supply chain confirm that several iPhone 17 Pro prototypes have been made in various colors, with Sky Blue currently the frontrunner. In prototypes, it reportedly looks even more stunning than the much-loved Sierra Blue of the iPhone 13 Pro, with a brightness and refinement that make it irresistible. Unless Apple changes course at the last minute, this will be the star of the September 2025 launch event.

Bu has a decent track record when it comes to Apple devices, although his track record isn’t perfect.

The Sky Blue color option debuted early this year on the M4 MacBook Air. While, as pointed out in the 9to5Mac report, Apple hasn’t launched a special color on the Mac and then the iPhone during the same year, the report also points out that the Sky Blue color option has proven to be popular with MacBook Air buyers.

Last year, Bu leaked information about the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max “Desert Titanium” color, Bu shared news about the shade in February, although he suggested that it might be called “Desert Yellow” instead. The leaker described it as “similar to the gold of the iPhone 14 Pro but deeper and heavier.”

In early 2024, Bu said that the iPhone SE 4 (which was called the iPhone 16e when it was released) would adopt the Dynamic Island. His comments seemed logical, as Apple had embraced the features across its entire iPhone 15 lineup. However, the iPhone 16e continued to have a notched screen, leaving it as the only model in the iPhone 16 lineup with the notch instead of the Dynamic Island.

Several rumors have circulated about the other features that have been rumored for the iPhone 17 Pro.

In January, a rumor posted on Weibo by Digital Chat Station suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro will get a 48-megapixel (MP) telephoto camera. The primary and ultrawide cameras on current iPhone Pro models have already made the transition, meaning that all of the upcoming iPhone Pro 17’s lenses will once again have the same resolution for the first time since the release of the iPhone 13 Pro.

In August 2024, noted leaker “Phone Chip Expert” posted a claim that Apple’s 2025 iPhone 17 lineup will boast 12 GB of RAM to handle more advanced on-device Apple Intelligence applications. However, Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo disagreed with that prediction, saying that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be the sole iPhone handset in the lineup to receive the 12 GB RAM upgrade.

In September 2024, display analyst Ross Young claimed that Apple plans to use its ProMotion displays across the entire iPhone 17 lineup, marking the first time every iPhone in a lineup would feature the same refresh rate.

In December, Young’s prediction was corroborated by Digital Chat Station, who has a decent track record when it comes to camera specifications.

Just like any rumors, everyhting above should be taken with a grain of your favorite low-sodium seasoning. Only time will tell.
