We could see optical image stabilization included in both models of Apple’s upcoming iPhone, according to a new report. An image of the new iPhone’s camera module seems to confirm that the 4.7-inch version of the device would feature image stabilization for its rear camera, among other improvements, according to Business Insider.

This type of stabilization compensates for your hand’s small, micro-movements. It lets users take shake-free, smooth videos. Additionally, OIS can help you snap better pictures in low-light conditions — when the camera becomes very sensitive to movement.

Optical image stabilization was first introduced for larger models of the iPhone 6 generation. Because of that, it’s expected to be featured on the Plus model of the iPhone 7. But these new reports seem to be pretty solid evidence that we’ll see OIS included on both new iPhones this fall.

Besides OIS, both models of the iPhone 7 are expected to have other camera improvements, including a dual-lens setup on the larger Plus model — although it’s not really known exactly what the second lens would do quite yet.

Most mockups leaked in the past few months also seem to have a slight protruding “camera bump,” perhaps hinting at an overall larger and better camera module. The image was leaked to French news website Nowhereelse.fr, and was first spotted by MacRumors.

Apple’s new devices are largely considered to be an “interim update” between the iPhone 6s and a planned, vastly redesigned model in 2017. Both models are expected to be announced by Apple at an iPhone event on September 7, with preorders expected to be taken on September 9.

There’s currently no firm date on when the phone will actually launch, but both September 16 and September 23 have been pegged as possible rollout days.
