We learned yesterday afternoon that in just a few short days, Apple will be taking the stage once again — this time, at the company’s sprawling, Cupertino, California campus, where it’s widely expected that the wraps will be taken off a dramatically revamped line of 2016 MacBook Pro computers, in addition to a refreshed MacBook Air.

Apple’s redesigned MacBook Pro, in particular, has so far been rumored to boast an all-new feature — what we’ve for long been referring to as an OLED Touch Bar — in addition to upgraded internals, Touch ID, and possibly a lot more.

Apple’s OLED Touch Bar, which will allegedly replace the top row of keyboard function keys, will essentially be a thin, keyboard-length panel consisting of touch sensitive film, featuring illuminated, app specific controls for navigating apps and your desktop. For instance, when specific apps are open, the OLED Touch Bar will display a series of controls exclusively geared towards navigating that app — such as cut, copy, and paste shortcuts for the Pages or Word apps, or music controls for Spotify or iTunes, for instance.

The feature will be enabled in a forthcoming software update to Apple’s desktop OS — macOS Sierra 12.1 — which should be released around the same time the company’s new MacBook Pros hit store shelves this fall.

Cupertino’s upcoming OLED Touch Bar will represent a major step forward in the evolution of the company’s MacBook Pro line. And a recently leaked trademark filing suggests that Apple may have dubbed its new navigation tool the “Magic Toolbar.”

The discovery was initially made by The Trademark Ninja, unearthed from a trademark filing believed to be associated with an Apple-owned dummy corporation, ‘Presto Apps America’, LLC.

What is Presto Apps America, LLC? Well, as iPhoneHacks points out, the firm could be an actual, legitimate, entity with no relation to Apple, whatsoever. However, given the scope of evidence uncovered when one delves deeper into the firm’s dealings, it becomes increasingly evident that Presto Apps America is actually a dummy firm, more than likely used by Apple for the sole purpose of concealing the company’s trademark filings.

In fact, several key variables lend credence to the latter of those situations. First and foremost, Presto Apps America was first incorporated as a limited liability partnership on the 22nd of January, 2016 — just a few short weeks prior to Apple — I mean, Presto Apps America, filing the trademark for “Magic Toolbar” on February 5th. Second, the phrase “Magic Toolbar,” in and of itself, seems awfully synonymous with a lot of other Apple products like the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and the Magic Trackpad.

Last but not least, it also appears that the same law firm responsible for filing Apple’s ‘AirPods’ patent earlier this year, is the same law firm commissioned to file the “Magic Toolbar” patent.

Whether or not Apple will in fact be naming its OLED Touch Bar the “Magic Toolbar” still remains to be seen, of course — but not for long, we’re literally counting down the days now!
