Apple’s AirPods are by far the best earphones on the market right now – but the demand for AirPods has slipped and so have preferences for wireless earbuds. The latest trend has Generation Z and Millennials going back to Apple’s 2012 EarPods. Now, with the demand and sales of EarPods increasing, Apple is considering a revamp of the former leading earphones.

Apple released EarPods in 2012 for the iPhone 5, iPod touch (5th Generation), and iPod nano (7th Generation) devices. EarPods went on to become the number one wired headphones ever sold due to their modern and sleek design.

Sure, Spatial Audio and Noise Cancellation are great, but those features can likely be brought to EarPods at a much more affordable price point compared to the AirPods lineup.

Apple could also add color options to the EarPods for the first time ever, which would make particular demographics (Gen Z – Millennials) very happy.

Apple may make additional profit from Android users who prefer EarPods from Apple and do not use the earphones from Samsung or Google that are supplied in the box. So, the price point of the headphones should be about $49 which would make them easily accessible to many markets. Knowing Apple, the new EarPods will likely be $70+ and people will make a big deal about it online.

There were rumors of Apple working on “AirPods Lite” that would have had a cord, but those ended up being the new Beats Flex headphones.
