When Apple first released the Apple Watch, it quickly became one of the most popular smartwatches in the world. Thanks to its beautiful design and its compatibility with the iPhone, pretty much everyone wanted one.

Thanks to the Apple Watch’s massive success, Apple became one of the biggest watchmakers in the world, which is crazy to think about. 

But it does show the world that the company is more than capable of getting into the wearable business when it wants to. Of course, that’s not to mention the other extremely wearable device Apple currently sells: the AirPods. Apple changed the game when it introduced the AirPods almost ten years ago.

The best part is that, if the rumors are true, Apple isn’t done with wearables. Besides the Apple Watch, the Cupertino company is said to be thinking of creating not one, not two, but three more wearables. Here’s what you need to know.

Apple Might Start Working on a Smart Ring

You’ve probably heard about smart rings in the news in the last few weeks. After all, Samsung is also working on a Smart Galaxy Ring that will work almost like a smartwatch. 

Well, it seems Samsung isn’t the only company working on a smart ring. According to Bloomberg, Apple has some ideas for a smart ring, although the company isn’t actively developing one just yet.

Still, according to the rumors, there are more and more people inside Apple that are talking about this ring. 

Before you get too excited, though, this ring won’t bring anything new that your Apple Watch can’t do already. 

Just like the Apple Watch, this rumored smart ring will be capable of tracking health data and showing it on your iPhone. For instance, you could potentially track your heart rate, your sleep, steps, and even your blood oxygen levels.

The biggest difference between the ring and your Apple Watch is obviously the extra benefits that come with a larger body and a display. The ring won’t let you control apps, check notifications, or anything like that; it will only track your health.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. Many people don’t like wearing a big computer on their wrists, and many iPhone users enjoy classic watches but would still like to track their health.

Just like Samsung, this new device could open up the door to new customers who don’t like wearable devices but still enjoy living a healthier lifestyle. 

Near the end of 2023, there was a report that Apple would stop focusing on the iPhone in 2024 and shift its focus to its wearables, like AirPods and the Apple Watch. But if the company keeps this focus beyond this year, it’s possible that we’ll see an Apple smart ring in the future.

Apple Glasses Could Also Become a Thing

We’ve heard rumors and speculations about smart glasses from Apple for a while now, but nothing has made it past that. However, now that we have an Apple headset, a pair of smart glasses doesn’t seem like a crazy idea.

According to rumors, Apple is developing a new set of smart glasses that will be a bit less ambitious than the full AR glasses we’ve heard about over the years. Bloomberg says the glasses are in a phase that Apple calls “technology investigation,” so we might hear more rumors about them in the future.

As for how they would work, we’re expecting something similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. These look like regular Ray-Ban glasses, but you can use them to call, record, text, or ask Meta AI questions on the go.

We expect Apple’s glasses to work similarly. You should be able to make calls, listen to music, and take pictures with nothing but your finger or your voice. Unfortunately, they probably wouldn’t be augmented reality glasses, so you won’t see texts or apps. Instead, Siri would tell you everything you need to know.

Are the AirPods getting an Upgrade, Too?

Even though Apple has updated the AirPods in recent years, most models look pretty much the same. For example, at first glance, you’ll have a hard time telling if you’re holding the first- or second-generation AirPods Pro in your hands.

However, according to these new rumors, the AirPods might get a couple of new features to make them “smarter.” Artificial intelligence is probably the last thing you think about when you hear the word AirPods, but Apple might implement it in a future model.

Just like the smart glasses, Apple’s hardware engineering team is also investigating these rumored AirPods.

These investigations include the possibility of adding a small, low-resolution camera to the AirPods that would capture data and pass it to the AirPods AI. According to Bloomberg, this would “assist people in their daily routines,” whatever that means.

But that’s not all. Apple is also considering adding health sensors to the AirPods, which we’ve heard before. While we don’t know exactly what these sensors could do, the most obvious answer is to analyze your hearing and give you tips to keep it healthy.

When Will We See These New Wearable Devices?

Before you get excited, keep in mind that, at the time of this writing, all of these products are nothing more than ideas. So, take everything with a huge grain of salt.

Hopefully, we’ll see one or more of these ideas come to fruition. If Samsung’s rumored smart ring becomes popular, Apple could decide to also take the plunge. Until then, we’ll have to wait for more rumors and leaks.
