Unfortunately, Apple isn’t among the major tech corporations that attend the ever-popular Consumer Electronics Show (CES). However, this isn’t to say that there won’t be a whole bunch of Apple-compatible accessories and/or devices.

CES is the premier show for all big tech companies who want to showcase the latest and greatest gadgets, accessories, wearables, and more that they are offering currently, or will soon release. It is a great opportunity for consumers who get to see and interact with all of the products. It is hosted in Las Vegas every year, and is never attended by Apple.

CESFor those of you who are die-hard Apple fans, here are a few things you should be on the lookout for at CES 2016.

Wearables

Image1One of the big topics of this year’s CES will be wearables. Apple helped to popularize wearable technology through the Apple Watch, and will therefore have a lot of influence on the future of smartwatches. At the expo, Samsung announced that their Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic will soon be iPhone compatible, which will excite users who want to try out Samsung’s wearable devices.

Accessories

One example is HyperLink & Amber’s nifty charging case for the Apple Watch that has aluminum construction, a 3800mAh battery, and more, all available in four Apple Watch matching colors. Although announced just before CES 2016 began, Belkin also debuted an innovative charging dock named the Valet Charge Dock.

Smart Home Technology

Apple’s HomeKit gives users the ability to control Wi-Fi connected devices simply by talking to Siri on their iPhone. Thus far at the show, Hunter has debuted two fans for HomeKit (named Symphony and Signal), and Honeywell showed off their HomeKit-enabled Lyric thermostat, and Lutron announced HomeKit support for their smart wireless window shades (pictured here).

Virtual Reality

The HTC Vive and Oculus Rift are both big names that are taking on the virtual reality market, both of which will be exhibited at CES 2016. In fact, pre-orders for the Oculus Rift have already started, which means that Apple might be pressured into releasing something fairly soon. Apple has been continuously buying companies who are strong competitors in the augmented reality market, so keep your eyes open for something from Apple in the near future.

However, it seems as though some companies at CES 2016 are even taking a few pointers and design elements from Apple and integrating them into their devices. For instance, both LG and Lenovo are debuting laptops that seem very similar in nature to Apple’s MacBook.

Will Apple’s absence from CES 2016 hurt them? Or will it give Apple an advantage when they host their own product release event?
