Your iPhone Will Soon Show Business Logos on Incoming Calls and Emails

Apple is giving businesses a new way to improve trust in their communications with customers by letting them add a consistent brand logo that will appear in built-in iPhone apps like Phone, Mail, Wallet, and Maps.
The new capabilities are an extension of Apple’s Business Connect platform, which lets companies create place cards in Apple Maps that present a rich set of information to potential customers, from basic contact details and hours to personalized photos and even featured products and special events. Businesses can also add custom buttons to provide quick access to making reservations, buying tickets, ordering food, and more directly from within Apple Maps.
Business Connect is also tied to Apple’s longstanding Messages for Business feature, which provides a trusted channel for customers to contact sales and support representatives for their favorite companies. Apple expanded that feature in iOS 17.4 to let companies use it to send updates for things like order status, flight notifications, fraud alerts, and more.
Now, Apple has announced a new set of features that will arrive in iOS 18.2 later this year to let businesses create a consistent brand that goes beyond Maps and Messages into the Phone, Mail, and Wallet apps.
For example, Branded Mail will display a company’s brand name and logo in emails to customers, not only helping to identify the company as verified, but also making those emails stand out from routine and personal communications. From the images Apple has provided, it appears that Branded Mail will use a square logo instead of a round on, and automatically display the verified business name as the from address.
Incoming calls from a business’s verified number will also show the company’s name, logo, and even the specific department on the inbound call screen in the Phone app. Customers can also see the business logo on receipts in their Wallet app and when making payments to a business via Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone feature.
We’re excited to offer all businesses — including those without a physical location — the ability to create a brand that appears across the Apple apps that over a billion people use every day. While support for showing these details won’t arrive until iOS 18.2, business owners can register for Business Connect or update their profiles to take advantage of Branded Mail, which will be part of the new Mail Categorization features that Apple showed off during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. Companies can now set up brand visibility for Tap to Pay on iPhone by specifying it in the relevant section of the Business Connect portal and then linking it to the merchant ID generated by their third-party payment provider.
Business Caller ID will take a bit longer to roll out. Apple says businesses will be able to register their information starting next year, so it’s unclear if iOS 18.2 will support this or we’ll have to wait for a future update beyond that.
Apple is also opening up Business Connect to go beyond brick-and-mortar companies, so you can create a brand identity even if you don’t have a physical place card to claim in Apple Maps, whether an online store or a local neighborhood service business.
