Ever since the rumor mill began swirling around Apple’s iPhone 7 early last year, we’ve heard quite a bit about different-colored variants that would ultimately hit the market, and now it appears that Cupertino has settled on a viable — and might we add, beautiful — color option to woo late adopters of its most powerful iPhone yet.
On Tuesday morning, following a brief period of scheduled web maintenance, Apple quietly made available its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus handsets boasting a gorgeous deep Red casing. As if the model, in itself, wasn’t beautiful enough, expectant customers who’re looking to upgrade to the newest (and most eye-popping) color of the iPhone family will be happy to know that a portion of their purchase will directly benefit Apple’s ongoing (Product)Red campaign.
Launched nearly a decade ago in collaboration to U2’s (Red) campaign, the Cupertino-company’s (Product)Red devices have supported various HIV/AIDS programs around the world, including those that offer vital services like counseling, testing, and preventive medicine to help thwart the spread of the horrendous disease from mother to child — in the countries that truly need these services the most. According to AppleInsider, sales of Apple’s (Product)Red devices, to date, have raised over $130 million for this ongoing humanitarian effort.
Every (Product)Red purchase — whether a special edition iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, or otherwise — contributes directly to this global fund to help fight AIDS. In addition to the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, however, Apple also offers a slew of different (Product)Red devices, including cases, headphones, smart batteries, Apple Watch bands, and more.
The (Product)Red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be offered starting this Friday, March 24th, in either 128 GB or 256 GB storage capacities — starting at $749 for the 128 GB, 4.7-inch iPhone 7, and $869 for the 128 GB, 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. Those price points are unchanged from those of the original iPhone 7 family, which will still be available in the Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Matte Black and Jet Black color options — however, if you’ve been holding out for the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, now is a great time to scoop up your very own, and help a worthy cause in the process.
