NBC’s Peacock streaming service got a big boost this week. The company announced that one of the most popular sitcoms ever, The Office, would be joining the Peacock lineup starting on January 1st.

If The Office alone isn’t enough to get you to sign up for the service, there are even more reasons why the Peacock network is worth adding to your television streaming options.

‘The Office’ for Free

The Office is a big draw and will attract an abundance of new customers. Up until December 31st, The Office still will be streaming on Netflix. It then will transition over to the Peacock streaming service. Starting January 1st, you’ll be able to watch all the original series episodes as well as “Superfan Episodes” with previously unreleased or deleted content. NBCUniversal will release these Superfan Episodes at launch and then again regularly starting in March. To entice people to check out Peacock, NBCUniversal is streaming the first few seasons for free without any subscription. To watch seasons three through nine, users will have to subscribe to one of several membership options.

TV Shows Galore

The Peacock streaming service offers a wide range of new and old television shows from NBC and its partner networks like Bravo, SYFY, and more. You can watch classics like Battlestar Galactica and 30 Rock. The streaming service also has new releases that are available the day after the episode airs on live TV.

A Myriad of Movies

TV shows form the bulk of the content, but that’s not the only type of programming you can watch. Peacock also includes more than 600 films with popular adult and children’s titles like Knocked Up, Fast & Furious 6, The Little Rascals, Shrek, Beethoven and others.

Affordable Subscriptions

Peacock is actually affordable. The service offers a free tier that includes advertisements and lets users watch more than half of the available content. For a reasonable $4.99 per month, users get access to the full library of movies and TV shows, but they still must watch advertisements. The most expensive tier is only $9.99 per month, which provides advertisement-free access to the entire NBCUniversal catalog.

Live Television

Best of all, Peacock has live TV channels that broadcast sports games, news, and more in real-time. Keep up with the latest developments while enjoying all of your favorite television shows.

A Diversity of Devices

Peacock Devices

The folks behind Peacock streaming were smart. They realized that part of their success hinges on widespread availability. You can’t stream on just one platform and expect to attract a record number of subscribers. As a result, Peacock is found on smart television sets and home media devices, including Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, Vizio, Xfinity, and more. It also can be streamed on a computer as well as mobile devices including the iPhone, iPad and Android devices. Last but not least, Xbox and PlayStation owners can stream the Peacock network on their consoles.

How to Subscribe

Peacock offers two premium memberships, including an affordable, ad-supported Premium tier and the more expensive, ad-free Peacock Premium Plus.

  1. The Premium tier costs $4.99 per month or $50 annually and includes advertisements.
  2. The Premium Plus tier removes the ads but costs $9.99 per month or $10 per year.

The Premium subscriptions provide access to NBC’s full catalog, including up to 20,000 hours of programming.

There also is a free membership option. The free service has advertisements and provides access to three/quarters (13,000 hours) of NBC’s catalog of TV shows and made-for-TV movies.
