When you want to buy a new iPhone, you may just opt for purchasing one directly from Apple or your carrier. That’s a perfectly fine option, but you’ll be left with paying the full sticker price of the device in question.

Luckily, if you’re looking to get a discount on an iPhone, there are a variety of third-party vendors that can help save you hundreds of dollars. Here are six platforms and vendors that can save you cash (and even net you additional benefits) when purchasing a new or used iPhone.

1 eBay

While some people have a rather dim view of buying technology from eBay, it can still be a great option if you’re careful. Just make sure that the seller is a reputable one, the return policy is good, and to pay with PayPal whenever possible.

It’s possible to buy both new and used devices from eBay from a variety of third-party sellers, even devices that Apple has discontinued. On average, iPhones on eBay sell for several hundred dollars below retail. More than that, most listings can be “bid” on — which could potentially save you even more, depending on timing and the specific sale.

2 Amazon

Amazon is a giant in the online retail space, and for good reason. You can find great deals on Amazon from reputable sellers, and in many cases, you can even buy first-party devices and accessories from their respective manufacturers.

When it comes to Apple products, and specifically iPhones, many of the options on Amazon are manufacturer-refurbished. As long as you buying from a reputable seller, you can save several hundred dollars off the sticker price for new unlocked iPhones. Better yet, many Amazon sellers offer the platform’s signature 2-day free shipping if you’re a Prime subscriber.

3 Gazelle

Gazelle may not be as well-known as eBay or Amazon as far as online retail, but it’s a solid choice for picking up a used iPhone on the cheap. All of its devices are “gently used,” hand-inspected by the company and backed with a 30-day, risk-free return policy.

The website allows you to apply filters to find specific models and configurations, but you can also specify a price range. Depending on the condition and unlocked status of the device, you can save a few hundred dollars off of Apple’s standard price. All devices will ship within five business days.

4 Jet.com

Jet.com is Walmart’s competitor to Amazon. And while it doesn’t have the same high-profile reputation as Amazon, you can find some excellent deals on used iPhones at Jet.com’s official Apple storefront. Jet is an authorized Apple reseller, so you won’t find any sketchy third-party listings here.

But that also means that Apple products sold by Jet are new — so you may not save as much on the platform. Still, Jet offers something Apple doesn’t: coupons and promotions. The retail platform often has limited-time discounts and deals that can save you some serious dough on new iPhones. Furthermore, all orders over $35 come with free shipping.

5 Apple Refurbished

One of the best alternatives to buying a new device from Apple is to buy a refurbished device from Apple. Mostly, that’s because the company thoroughly inspects and repairs all of its refurbished devices — and so you’ll be hard pressed to tell the difference from a brand new device.

You won’t find every model or configuration, and the savings won’t be as deep as from many third-party sellers. But refurbished iPhones are sold unlocked and with discounts up ranging up to 25 percent off the normal retail price. You’re paying for extra peace-of-mind and Apple’s excellent one-year warranty.

6 Best Buy

Best Buy is an authorized Apple reseller, which means that you’re getting brand new Apple products straight from the OEM. No worrying about fraudulent listings or devices that are far more used than their sellers portray them to be.

That does mean Best Buy discounts aren’t as deep as third-party platforms. But Best Buy does offer a few advantages over Apple — like periodic sales on products, an in-house credit card with cash back, and reward points that you can earn and use toward Apple products. All of that can save you serious money on new iPhones.
