The first batch of iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and Apple Watch Series 4 preorders submitted via the Apple Store app or apple.com saw their processing status change to “Preparing to ship” over the weekend, as early adopters around the world anticipate their expected September 21st deliveries.

According to multiple online accounts, some customers who placed early orders in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and several other launch markets noticed their order’s status change accordingly.

This means that the first round of preordered iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and Apple Watch Series 4 devices will officially begin shipping out to customers in the very near future — and their “preparing to ship” status confirms these orders can no longer be modified or canceled.

For those who pre-ordered an iPhone XS, XS Max or Apple Watch Series 4 early Friday morning, but have noticed no change in their order’s shipping status, it should be noted that Apple’s shipment status information might need a few hours to update. Over the course of the next few days, customers in the U.S. should be able to go in and track their order’s status using the standard online tracking features available through Apple’s domestic shipping partners, UPS and FedEx.

When and Where to Preorder iPhone XS, XS Max or Apple Watch Series 4?

Apple (along with its launch partners including T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T) began accepting preorders for the latest iPhone XS flagships and Apple Watch Series 4 last Friday, September 14 at 12:01 am PST.

As with the majority of iPhone launches past, within about 30-minutes of being available to order  the company’s top-tier, 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max was completely sold out for launch day delivery, as were most configurations of the Apple Watch Series 4 (which is currently showing a 3-4 week shipping estimate for most variants).

As of this write-up, essentially all iPhone XS Max models, colors and configurations, wont be shipping until October, at the earliest. Though it should be noted that some iPhone XS and XS Max configurations will be available in-store in limited quantities on September 21 for those hoping to get lucky on launch day.

Those looking to pre-order the 5.8-inch iPhone XS, meanwhile, face a slightly better fate, as all but a few colors and configurations are currently showing a nominal 1-2 week delivery estimate.
