Yesterday, we told you about Apple’s 2023 iPhone App of the Year winner, AllTrails, an app that helps outdoor enthusiasts discover and navigate new trails for a variety of activities. Apple also awards “App of the Year” for iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch apps. Here are your winners.

iPad App of the Year: Prêt-à-Makeup

Prêt-à-Makeup is a digital face notepad used primarily by makeup artists to plan, test, track, and share looks and product combinations. The team behind Prêt à Makeup is composed of engineers, fashion designers, graphic designers, and 3D artists.

Originally launched in 2019, there are now more than 1,000 make-up products and 40 face templates accessible on the app. Create your look by sketching with your finger, a stylus pen, or Apple Pencil. The app is rated for ages 4+ for those aspiring fashion and beauty lovers. It’s free for basic features, or you can subscribe after a 10-day trial for $8.99/month or $63.99/year to get access to all the features.

Mac App of the Year: Photomator

Photomator simplifies the tricky process of image editing. AI-powered tools reduce the complex and tedious process of altering images down to a matter of just a few clicks.

You can remove objects (or people), change lighting and colors, retouch, or make major adjustments to your photos with precision using Photomator. You can also use it on your iPhone and iPad. Download Photomator for free, and get access to all the features or a $99 one-time purchase or a $4.99/month or $29.99/year subscription.

Apple TV App of the Year: MUBI

MUBI is a streaming service with films carefully curated by the MUBI team. Focused on appealing to cinephiles tired of the familiar content found across other streaming services, MUBI includes lesser-known movies and excludes TV series.

Community features, where viewers offer reviews and recommendations, help you keep up with the rapidly changing library of indie and foreign films. Current titles include Aftersun, Decision To Leave, The Worst Person In The World, and Shiva Baby. MUBI costs $14.99/month and is rated for an audience 17 and over.

Apple Watch App of the Year: SmartGym

SmartGym is the ultimate fitness app to help you reach your 2024 goals. It designs workouts with its Smart Trainer AI, displays them in a simple format, and tracks sets with haptic feedback.

It works offline (so it doesn’t require you to be near your iPhone) and will sync your data when you’re connected again. Create your own workout or select from 240 included exercises. You can even share your routines with friends.

Gone are the days of tracking your sets with pencil and paper (and even less convenient smartphone apps). More importantly, SmartGym monitors your heart rate and tracks calories burned. SmartGym costs $59.99/year or $9.99/month.
