Remember that seemingly indestructible, brick-of-a-phone you used to have? Well, the company that made it is trying to edge its way back into the phone market.

It was first revealed in May of this year that the Nokia name would be licensed to a Finnish company called Global HMD, who would then use the brand to sell Android-based Nokia phones, according to Wired.

And now, new information leaked this week reveals that the company is about to launch two Nokia-branded smartphones.

The new Nokia phones will come in two different sizes: a model sporting a 5.2-inch display, and a larger model donning a 5.5-inch display. Both versions will feature AMOLED screens and 2K display resolutions, according to GizmoChina.

The phones will feature all-metal construction and IP68 water and dust resistance — perhaps to echo that familiar indestructible feel that’s long been associated with the brand.

Leaks have also reported that the phone will ship with a Z-Launcher user interface based on Android Nougat, and will have Snapdragon 820 chipsets, according to PhoneRadar.

The devices will reportedly be manufactured by Foxconn — a Taiwanese electronics company — and will likely only be initially available in China.

It’s important to note that Nokia won’t be directly involved with the phone’s marketing or distribution. The company just gave Global HMD, a company founded by former Nokia employees, permission to use the brand in exchange for royalties, PhoneRadar reported.

But whether Nokia is making these phones or not, there’s no doubt that the release of these two new flagships will mark a huge comeback for the brand — which has long maintained a positive image and even a cult following among consumers.

In a PhoneArena poll, just under 50 percent of participants said they believed that Nokia will be able to go head-to-head with the major players in the Android market.

But despite any positive feedback, only time will tell if Nokia-branded phones are once again destined for our pockets.
