What if there was a ring that could save your life? That’s the goal of a new startup called Nimb. The company is currently working on launching a crowdfunding campaign that will debut June 21 on Kickstarter.

At the core of Nimb’s campaign is a wearable smart ring. The ring would allow the wearer to alert emergency contacts and authorities of a crisis with a simple touch of the thumb, according to the company.

The ring would then send an alert to various people that can be pre-selected in the corresponding app. These include friends, family, law enforcement and nearby people, among others.

“We believe that society is ready to provide its members with peer-to-peer help in extreme situations,” the company said in a press release.

The company ran a pre-launch campaign on Facebook and received quite a bit of positive feedback. Riding on this momentum, Nimb said that the next logical step is a crowdfunding campaign.

Although its flagship product would be a wearable, the company has said that new devices are not its main focus. Instead, they want to pioneer a complex security system that would include options for the home, office, vehicles, and businesses.

Nimb hopes to coordinate and collaborate with other public safety organizations, including law enforcement, first responders, and other emergency groups, the company said.

The startup hopes to move into Latin America, Asia and Europe by the end of 2017. The company said it will supplement these expanding markets with a new version of the ring, safety bracelets, and other emergency wearables.

Nimb recently ended a sweepstakes in which the company will give away one Nimb wearable ring. The randomly selected winner will be announced this month.
