Mark Zuckerberg has an AI assistant that allows him to control his smart home, which comes as a surprise to no one. He has plans to demo the Jarvis-like AI butler at an event in September.

As of now, the AI assistant can recognize his voice and face to grant him entry into his home, as well as control the lights, temperature, and gates to his home. It is also programmed only to respond to his voice commands, “much to the chagrin of my wife,” Zuckerberg said in a live Q&A session that he hosted in Italy.

“I’ll give her access once I’m done,” Zuckerberg joked. “So it’s getting there. And it’s starting to be able to do some pretty fun things, and I’m looking forward to being able to show it to the world.”

In an interview with The Verge, the Facebook CEO also said that he uses the AI assistant make him toast each morning, though there are still some bugs to work out.

It was earlier this year in January that Zuckerberg first announced his current home-improvement project, stating that he intended to build an artificial intelligence capable of controlling his home, which he explicitly likened to Jarvis from Marvel’s Iron Man franchise. Until the demo, how much progress Zuckerberg has had with the AI assistant remains to be seen.

Facebook is, of course, not the only tech giant to have made forays into the smart appliances and smart home industry segments. Currently, Amazon Echo and Samsung SmartThings also offer smart devices that control lights, security locks, and temperature.
