If you haven’t heard of Storehouse, it’s a mobile app that is an aesthetic combination of Instagram and VSCO meant for sharing multimedia stories. Today, the company announced they will be shutting down their services for users on July 15th and moving the entire team to Square. It is still unsure if Square acquired Storehouse or not.

CEO Mark Kawano stated through an email “While I am proud of what we accomplished, we were unable to achieve the type of growth necessary to justify the continued operation of the service.” The company is giving users until July 14th to download or archive their images, where they will receive their stories in about 24 hours after processing.

After initially launching in September of 2013 for iPad only, the app has been extended to iPhone, Android, and Apple TV. The app gained popularity with various tech companies early after its launch, leading to what could have been thought of as a promising future. The photo and video app won both Apple’s Design Award and the 2014 Crunch Best Mobile App. However, while the app was a great way to edit and narrate pictures, it may have been more complex than the average user would tolerate.
