ESR’s New 100W 6-in-1 Charger Promises to Handle All Your Apple Devices

Accessory maker ESR has come up with a new charging station that could be the only charger you’ll need to power all your Apple devices at your desk.

Launched in a new Kickstarter campaign, ESR’s 100W 6-in-1 Charging Station takes advantage of modern Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology to pack the fastest possible charging for everything from your iPhone and Apple Watch to your MacBook Pro.

While the ESR 100W station looks like many competing multi-device charging platforms for the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, it goes a step beyond, with two USB-C ports on the side that are each capable of delivering 100W of power that’s enough to handle even the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

That said, the entire charging station is rated at 100W, which means your MacBook may have to share power when you have other devices connected at the same time, but thankfully ESR’s stand uses smart power distribution to ensure every device gets the power it needs, rather than trying to divide it equally between all devices like some other power adapters do.

For instance, since the MagSafe-certified iPhone charging dock can only supply a maximum of 15W anyway, a USB-C-connected MacBook would still have 85W to play with. While that won’t deliver the fastest charging speeds to a modern MacBook Pro, it’s more than enough to keep any of Apple’s MacBooks powered and charging simultaneously.

The two USB-C ports and MagSafe iPhone charging dock are joined by an Apple-certified 5W charger that can fast-charge the new Apple Watch Series 7 and newer models, plus a 5W AirPods magnetic charging pad, and a 5W USB-A port on the side that can be used to charge a Magic Trackpad or any other low-power USB device.

Cooler and Faster iPhone Charging

In addition to powering just about any device on your desk, ESR’s charging station has another trick up its sleeve.

Thanks to ESR’s CryoBoost cooling technology, the MagSafe charger promises to juice up an iPhone 14 Pro twice as fast as Apple’s official MagSafe charger and preserve battery health in the process.

It’s an unavoidable law of thermodynamics that no power transfer system can offer perfect efficiency. Excess energy that doesn’t get stored in the battery is converted to heat, and wireless charging is even more inefficient, generating significantly more heat which in turn slows down charging and prematurely ages your iPhone’s battery.

ESR solves this problem with its CryoBoost tech, which combines a fan and heat-dissipating components to cool the phone down while charging. It promises to reduce temperatures by up to 5.5 degrees Fahrenheit, which puts less stress on the battery and also means the iPhone doesn’t need to slow down its charging speeds to prevent overheating.

Since the fan will make a bit of noise, there’s also a button on the front that can be used to turn off the CryoBoost feature when it’s not needed, which is helpful if you plan to put the new stand on your bedside table.

The ESR 100W 6-in-1 Charging Station comes in Arctic White and is being initially released on Kickstarter with a super-early-bird price of $143 USD. It’s expected to begin shipping to the US, Germany, UK, Canada, Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, and Denmark in September and will go on sale on Amazon by October.
