Apple continues to garner large-scale support via the adoption of its CarPlay infotainment system — most recently by the Ford Motor Company. And now, the trend continues, as Fiat Chrysler Automotive Group has recently announced that it, too, will begin to implement CarPlay in its 2016 line of select vehicles under the Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge brands.

These lucky few, yet-to-be-announced models, will feature an upgraded option inclusive of Chrysler’s existing Uconnect system — a comprehensive wireless, communication, and entertainment system that features a massive 8.4-inch touchscreen display.

iDrop_ChryslerCarPlay_01CarPlay will be integrated into the existing Uconnect system, and, via the immersive touchscreen display, will enable users to access Chrysler’s existing features, in addition to their text messages, Siri, and Navigation while on the move.

“Apple CarPlay provides drivers with a smarter, safer way to use an iPhone inside a car. Apple CarPlay seamlessly integrates an iPhone with the car’s built-in display and controls in addition to featuring Siri voice control. Now drivers can make phone calls, access music, send and receive messages, get directions optimized for traffic conditions and more while staying focused on the road,” said Fiat Chrysler in the company’s official press release.

This is certainly another big step in the right direction for CarPlay, which has been widely accepted and applauded by Automobile manufacturers around the world — especially in recent months.
