Back when we were originally reporting on all of the specification and launch details pertinent to Apple’s behemoth, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the company’s own CEO, Tim Cook, went on record saying that he earnestly believes the humungous — albeit satisfyingly portable — device could replace an average user’s conventional laptop computer.

And while many were quick to point out the obvious differences between iPad Pro and a traditional laptop, I think it’s important to note that most light users, students, artists, and even creative professionals are likely to get plenty of raw, computational power out of Apple’s largest, most powerful touchscreen devices.

No, I seriously doubt you’d be able to sit down and edit a full-length, motion-picture film right on the device’s screen — however, to be fair, carrying an iPad Pro around all day still sounds a lot easier than, say, a MacBook, at double the weight, doesn’t it?

I can vouch for that one, sure! But I also think that’s essentially along the lines of what Cook was trying to emphasize, anyways — regardless of whether or not he’s alone in his sentiments.

Even despite all the lingering disagreements, though, it appears that the Silicon Valley iPad-maker is looking to finally smother the flames of uncertainty, and set the record straight, perhaps once and for all — with its all-new 30-second iPad Pro advertisement, which is cleverly titled “What’s a Computer?”

Launched on Monday morning, the new 30-second spot essentially outlines all the key details that make Apple’s iPad Pro a uniquely versatile, multi-purpose device. The narrator talks about the iPad Pro’s amazing hardware specs, all the cool iPad Pro-only software advancements baked into iOS 9, and even the many accessories currently available to help you get the absolute most out of the device.

“Just when you think you know what a computer is, you see a keyboard that can just get out of the way, and a screen you can touch and even write on,” the narrator voices in the background, while the mysterious hands interact with the device in various ways onscreen. “When you see a computer that can do all that, it might just make you wonder, ‘Hey, what else can it do?’”

Apple is working hard as of lately, and investing plenty, in its efforts to position both 9.7- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models as viable work, play, and everything else in-between tools. And why not? I mean, it’s not like they’re lying, right? Apple’s current iPad Pro models are blisteringly fast, can manage multiple apps running at a single time, and, thanks to a slew of software tweaks, productivity on iPad has been boosted to an entirely new level.

Believe it or not, this entire article was completed on a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It took me a bit longer than probably would have been the case if I’d just stayed cramped up in my den, however it’s beautiful outside, and since I have the tools needed to get the job done, I figured I’d take my office outside — and a solid choice that was, indeed.

The commercial might also help the company generate new interest in the iPad Pro, as it prepares for what’s already shaping up to look like yet another (potentially) iPad-packed fall quarter.
