Apple products are known for their longevity, design, and innovative features. But occasionally, one of their products or accessories slips through the cracks and needs to be refreshed or recalled for replacement. An instance of this happened earlier this week with Apple’s latest charger USB-C charger for their MacBook.

This week, Apple issued a recall for MacBook chargers that were shipped with computers through June 2015. Apparently, a number of chargers that shipped out were faulty, due to the fact that they didn’t fulfill their purpose: to charge.

In its statement, Apple noted that a select number of chargers “may not charge or only charge intermittently when it’s connected to a power adapter with an affected cable.” The good news? Apple will be replacing the cables, whether it was included with the purchase of your new MacBook or whether you bought the charger as an accessory.

Cables covered under the recall will have the following text printed on the cable: “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China.” Newer models have the same text followed by a serial number, which are not covered under the recall (see below).

Apple expects to have the new cables shipped out to customers by the end of February. Customers will receive their new cables at the postal address they used during the registration process. However, if you did not register your USB-C charger (either when registering your MacBook online or buying it at the Apple Online Store) then you will have to go through a Genius Bar or contact Apple Support.

Unfortunately for Apple, this is the second recall they have made this year. Last month, Apple was forced to recall a number of AC adapters for Mac and iOS devices after it was discovered that some of them produced an electrical shock when touched. However, Apple has been very prompt in responding to these design flaws, and is doing what they can to ensure that everyone is somehow compensated for faulty equipment.

Apple has a page for the USB-C Charge Cable Replacement Program, where you can find full details on the recall.
